I am having trouble finding someone in my area that can turn the rear drums on our 46. Anyone know where I can get the arbor part number for a Van Norman drum turning machine that will hold these drums. Any tips on how you turn yours will be helpful. Thanks
John

I can just imagine some young kids facial expression that hasn't seen a rear drum with a hub on on it before. A lot of folks probably don't know what a brake drum is now days.

I hope some one can help you. I'd sure hate to have to take the hub off the drum just to turn it. Maybe a machine shop could do it in a lathe.

If you take the drum off of the hub to turn it be sure to turn it again after you reassemle it since you usually distort the drum when removing/installing it (wait, I think there is something wrong with this picture). My suggestion would be to contact your local Early Ford V8 Club chapter (see earlyfordv8.org for local chapters) and ask what local shop can turn your rear drum. The final, more expensive, solution would be to contact someone that sells cast iron Model A drum assemblies. They should have the equipment.

I, too, can turn the early rear drums, but Charlie is closer to you than I am, and he has a business and I just have a hobby.
