42 pickup spare tire stand brace

Wanted:large brace for spare tire stand that supposedly didn't come out until 1942. Part number 21C 1488 Lawson and I need one each. Thanks Chet

Looking forward to seeing a picture of your brace. The one I showed the picture of looks like the one shown in the Green Book as best as I can tell.

Thanks for posting Dean. Could you do a tracing or something showing angles on each end and thickness etc. Your picture looks like it has a stiffiner bead stamped into it where the one on the picture I posted looks like it is flat, other than the 90 degree bends forming the channel.

I don't know what the 21C1488 would fit, but the 38-46 parts book also lists a 81 C1488 brace. I assume this fits 1938 and 1939 pickups.

This looks like a 45 Degree bend on each end, the large hole looks to be 5/8" the small 1/2 or 9/16. I will scale the photo that was submitted above to 1 inch grid and determine the angles. I should be able to determine the run and travel and figure the offset correctly. I will use 14 gauge. Should stand up good, Sunday is monkey around day this week. I'll post a photo of what the monkey (me) comes up with.
