Looking for a how to adjustment on the shocks going to help a friend of mine get his adjusted the shocks have been rebuilt and work good

Looking at the face of the shock you'll note a small rectangular metal piece at the very center. That turns with a small wrench. Turning it clockwise makes the shock stiffer.
Counter-clockwise makes it looser - more "bounce".

I am not aware of any easy method to determine when "enough is enough" on the adjustment other than to test drive and readjust as you feel may be necessary.

Glenn, thanks for posting the information on the Houdaile shock absorbers.

Glad to help.

I find the shocks to be quite good and the adjustments are very effective. I followed the recommendations given.
