36 coupe steering box

Does someone have a diagram with discription of the parts of a 36 passenger car steering box? And/or can someone tell me how to lubricate the box (i’m not a technical wonder you see 😀). Thanks!!!

The diagram for the 36 is nearly identical to the 33-34 & 35 with the exception the 36 uses bearings in the sector housing for the shaft instead of the bushing used in 35. There is a plug on the top of the steering box, remove it by screwing it off. Fill the box to the bottom of the plug threads with your lubricant of choice. You will note the plug is not solid casting or steel but stamped metal plug, the plug is marked on the top to fill with heavy gear lube. The Chassis parts book should have all the part numbers and Fords name for the various parts.

The steering box worm & 2-tooth sector gear is nuthin' to write home about. Chevrolet & Plymouth as well as I understand) (ask what others have tried; I understand that it's a professional adjustment as simple as it may seem. You gotta know how to do it. hmmm. Would a front-end shop these days take the time to 'play' with 90-year-olde- steering?

And check the play in the pitman arm/drag link. There are washers to help 'tighten up' the large 'screw' adjustment. (the pitman arm ball becomes oval after decades.) I bought a new drag link & pitman arm. (90-year-olde technology on my '33) the steering is still loose as a goose.)

view the tie rods; i.e., connection(s) by the front wheel(s) backing plate.

Do this while your assistant is 'manning' the steering wheel left-to-right/right-to-left). My two cents' worth! replies welcome, i.e., corrections.
