'32 coupe Q....

I know that Brookville makes repro bodies, but am wondering how many '32 five window coupes did Ford produce and are they hard to locate in stock / unrestored condition? Without deep pockets, I've given up on idea of having a 3 window in any condition.

In the next year or two. I'm going to start looking for a 32 three or five window. I think the only way I will be able to afford one. Is to find a rough one. I've seen a five window body on the hamb. For 6500 and its pretty rough.

After 50+ years of wanting a '32 5W, I finally got a real one....not cheap at all, but considered an investment also. ( my excuse for justification ) I have seen so many 3W's that they did not seem appealing any more. How many 5W's were made....there is a number somewhere which I do not have at the moment, but not that many. A lot became stock cars, many were channeled and chopped, so to find a non chopped full fendered 5W is a challenge. I guess that is why a new metal, stock body was reproduced. It's going to be a twin to my Roadster...You only live once.....Robert

Funny, I was just wondering a similar thing. the 3 windows and roadsters are out there original but sky high and you don't see a lot of 5 windows or tudors that have not been messed with in someway. Granted, a lot of them are sitting in someones garage like a trophy.

I saw a mint `32 coupe, I think was a three window, one recent year at Hershey in the flea market area. It was totally original and looked perfect. The paint was a lttle dull but too good to repaint. I know I took pictures but cannot find them. It had a $100,000 price tag!

Remember the Timmins (sp) `34 Roadsters? I dont know if they were fiberglass or metal, but they looked great! Where have they gone? If someone would do the same to a `32 coupe! Later flathead V-8 engines are still available.

I found a picture of the `32 three window. Not as mint as I remember, but nice! This was taken 2012.

Relative to deluxe coupe (3-w) production of 22,145 in the U.S. and 23,411 worldwide, there were a lot of '32 standard coupes produced (51,794 in the U.S. and 53,891 worldwide). I doubt whether there is a significant difference in the survival rate of those two body types.

Below is a pic of a list of production figures for '32. I forget the original source, but the numbers have generally agreed with other sources with sufficient regularity to instill confidence.

The Timmis was/is glass: http://www.timmismotor.com/timmis-ford/index.html .

I would suggest that finding a body or car today is comparatively easier than say 20 years ago. For that slice of automotive hobbydom that is most fond of this vintage, the age of the interested parties is getting high enough that there are multiple causes for motivated selling. Whether it be death, health, medical bills or something else, stuff that was hidden away in the back of an old building for "someday" is now being let go to the next anxious owner. And '32 Fords still lead the list for popularity/demand. One needs to be vigilant and ready to move on a potential acquisition when the opportunity presents. If you're seriously looking you can find it, if you're sitting back waiting for it to fall into your lap, "getting lucky", then your odds aren't as good. Happily, they're still out there.............somewhere.

Regarding the UP link above. Having seen several of their bodies, mostly at SEMA, they are a nice piece. Not perfect, but pretty darn close all things considered. Made from Taiwanese stampings? Yep. Not original Ford? Yep. So if those things turn you off, don't look. But for those who might be interested in one here's a tip. Find a couple more guys to throw in with. Start an automotive company, even if only on paper.;) And place a direct order for the minimum dealer program purchase of 3 bodies. You'll save a few thousand per...............but you'll need to be patient. They have a backlog of orders right now and can't keep up with demand. Can't find 2 reliable "partners"? Yeah, that would be pretty common. If you like the product, buy one from a legitimate dealer and support those who support the hobby. (I'm not one, so I'm not tooting my own horn.)

I had my Standard Coupe listed for sale a while back, but decided to keep it after selling my '40 Ford Convertible. Couldn't stand the thought of losing both. Glad I did!

I do say that's a right purdy 32 Ford all gussied up in stock trim.

Well like most , my dream was a 32 3 window coupe. Back in 1991 I had the oportunity to buy a steel chopped up body for $3,500.00. I bought it from a guy through Hemmings Motor News. I live in Alaska and this car was in Utah. After many restless nights I pulled the trigger and bought the car based solely on pictures . During the years leading up to buying this car , I had considered in buying a glass car and being done with it. Well like mentioned earlier ,I just bought it and hoped that I did not pay way to much for the Holey Grail . Well now it is 2013 and I have raised a family and now am back on the body. Good for procrastination , back when I bought the car the few body parts that were available were glass. Now I have access to all the parts that I need to complete the car in steel. Did step up lay down some serious cash for a complete floor kit , firewall , sub rails , misc body patch panels, and other needed sheetmetal. At the rate I am going I figure I will have around $40,000.00 in the car when done . But also said , you only go around once. Sometimes I think that I must be nuts to pay those prices for sheet metal but I do not have the coin to throw down $95,000.00 + for the car that I am building . Hope to have it done in the next 2 years .
