Say I have been helping the brother in law out trying to ID two engine blocKs. The stampings are the same on both ECZ-C and the heads are stamped ECZ-G. One has a slightly smaller bore than the other, can not seem to get a straight answer from the books. Anyone know if these are 292's or 312's? PS. also the crank is stamped EC and then the drilled hole is there. Thanks

The G heads are the best ever sent out the door at Ford. The only thing better is the new aluminum heads. Measure the stroke, the long stroke is a 312. I think a 312 should be 3.44

If you have the main caps, the 312's had an EZC casting number. Other than measuring the bore, this is the only way. I think the main caps on the 292 were EDB

If you have the crank, check the main journal size. Additionally, most 312's had a raised dot on the rear flange of the crank, about 5/16 in size.
