I have a 50 ford the dash lights don't light up even though the bulbs are lit. Are there some filters in the dash that are limiting the lights. If so can they be acssesed by removing the speedo or does the whole unit have to come out.
 
No filter, it's more or less a direct connnection to your lighting circuit. Chech your connnections and yes you could remove the panel. The bulbs are not in series so one bulb would notg effect the other. Unless the circuit to the dash has a bad connection. Check also your grounds the for the dash. When you remove the panel you will have to ground the panel get the lights to function.
 
Yes there are filters. Four of them. Remove them and paint the bulbs green or what ever other color you want.
