1948 ignition removal

Simple question (I hope)...how do you remove the ignition switch from a 1948 sedan? Thanks

Is it mounted in the dashboard or column lock?

It is mounted in the steering column but the column does not lock.

Mine is dash mounted so removal is simple. I have never removed the column type but there are other threads on this. Try the search function, you should find lots on this.

If it has the original just pop the spring loaded stainless cover off the front, then push pull the ignition switch toward you and turn it which unlocks it. Then you remove it from the back. Hope this helps, Dale.

Thanks. I suppose I can pop the cover off with a screwdriver?
