1940 ford trans. swap

want to use a 70's chev pickup 3 speed manual trans. with a 327 in my 40 ford. Will wishbones need to be split and what to use for trans. mount. Any help appreciated.

I would get a chassis engineering trans kit with split wishbone kit. Then remove the center section of frame and mount trans to that, with push hydraulic slave cylinder for clutch linkage.

For a SBC & a 3 speed in a '40, the wishbone doesn't need to be split.
To fit the 3 speed you will need to nibble the upper part of the center member.
Fashion a plate to move the trans mount rearward a couple of inches. This is required because the trans mount falls over the wishbone location.
The bottom portion of the center cross member with the wishbone mount stays in place.
