1934 Ford rearend

thirt4 - Depending on how much you use your car, mechanical brakes might be just fine.

If you use the car a lot, hydraulics would be a reasonable choice and could be done by "re-arranginf" Ford parts. However, if you use the car very sporadically, the mechanical brakes might be a better choice because the hydraulic system is subject to internal corrosion if not used/heated up regularly. The heat from usage drives out the moisture. FWIW
This is some good advice. Those mechanical brakes were designed to work just fine as long as they are taken care of and adjusted properly

My 34 roadster has a 1982 corvette rear. It has 235 75 15 on 7 inch wheels. They fit under the fenders and it rides super.

Tim, Do you have any clear photos of that rear end that we could see? That sounds like a decent ride. How much cutting and shaping to the frame did you have to do? Or is it even a stock frame?

If you don't want to make modifications to your frame, etc take a look at what Hot Rod Works has to offer. It's not cheap but it sure is nice. www.hotrodworks.com
Plus, consider changing the brakes to hydraulic. But, in the end consider carefully the advice Mart has given. Have you considered installing a Mitchel overdrive unit? They are the cat's meow. Just do a Fordbarn "search" by typing in Mitchell overdrive.
