1931 Ford Model A Pickup Deluxe

Although the GAZ pictures seem to show there is a "step" between the cab and bed I do not think this is so . This would mean a wider rear fender and different juncture between running board splash shield and fender . There is an excellent video on Youtube with the show quality restoration of that blue truck all looks the same . I have not seen pictures of a GAZ pickup with a regular Ford narrow or widebed fitted Maybe Brad in Germany can tell us . Could be GAZ modified a tudor die for the sides which would include the wheel well pressing . Are the rear fenders the same on the tudor and 66 A ? The Russian pictures show painted bed rails not chrome maybe not required on a utility vehicle . Could be Ford did not supply GAZ with the dies for the regular steel bed so they made do much simpler construction anyway .Just my thoughts .

The Soviet GAZ model A/AA derivatives were manufactured for a lot longer period than those of the rest of the world. Ford sold them a lot of tooling for the model A/AA designs and also a near complete set of machines for the manufacture of tires, It was enough equipment to fill a very large warehouse or more. A person can see the differences so it's not hard to tell a GAZ built type. Charles Sorensen mentioned in his book all the stuff they sold the USSR and Germany before the war. He wasn't sure that they ever used the tire manufacturing equipment. They would have needed the rubber resources for that. The German concern was at least partly owned by Ford but the war changed all that.
