1929 Model A new to the A world

there are ways to stop the rust while maintaining the patina. you repaint one thing and the things around it look bad so before you notice the whole car is painted haha.

In this case this car is not an original condition survivor. I t has already been repainted and modified, so there is no "patina" left to maintain. So the car can be made the way you want it with a clear conscience.

While you are working on it I would put the front wishbone back where it belongs, just a thought. I am sure you can find one locally. Good luck with your project, seems like you are set up to do it right..

With the kind help of Roger V, We've found the car has a model B engine and trans, and as some of you have noticed, this is not an original survivor. I did get a front wishbone last week on a trip to get better wheels. With the B trans probably synchro 2nd-3rd, this should turn into a nice driver.

Nice looking "Special Coupe".. I'm a newer member also.. lots of great info here,, and they are always ready to help.! kb

mainly a driver. I am finding a few things deep in that need fixing. And North Carolina has strict title laws. It has to be inspected for road worthy before it can be tagged. Thought about just fixing to driver status, but I think the fenders would only get worse as far as rusting goes, and now is the time to stop the progression to rust.

The previous owner modified to hydraulic brakes and the engine has been replaced, so it probably never would be a show car.
It is amazing how bad things can be when a car is converted to mechanical brakes. If you don't feel comfortable find someone that knows brakes and have them check it out. When I got my last Model A the first thing I did was to replace the hydraulic brakes with mechanical brakes for safety reasons (and I am one that likes hydraulic brakes). The Model B engine should be fine, I assume it has the B transmission and that is why the wishbone was changed? One VERY IMPORTANT but often overlooked thing is that you need adapters when running Model A wire wheels on the later hydraulic drums. The wheels will bolt on but you are asking for trouble down the road. See: http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1286293&posted=1#post1286293
