1926 Coupe questions

My shop just got a 1926 coupe in from a customer. Has been sitting for 30+ years. Engine rolls over, and we had one attempt by the engine to kick over, but no.

1. Is there a way to check the coil box out put with out an expensive tester??
2. The battery cables are badly corroded, the floor starter switch gets very warm when used a lot. Will new cables and clean connections make this starter roll a bit faster??
3. What is a compression range for the cylinders??
4. Can you give us a direction on where to begin checking the non start issue?

Thanks!!
Bob

The coil works when the comuntator rotor or brush grounds its wire with the key on. the battery cables need to be in the 00-1 gauge range, and of course good clean connections. It will run with 45 pounds compression. Change the oil before starting it as there are oil tubes that can clog. You may want to find out if the owner has any literature on the car like the owners manual or service bulletins.
