Got my 1st A, a 31 S/W 4 door in 1953 @15 years old.Spent the summer helping the mechanic at a local garage for $ 1 an hr to save up the $75 for the car.I replaced the rings, ground the valves & adjusted the brgs & put 10,000 miles on it in the next 2 1/2 years. Now I,m on my 16 th A,a twin to my 1st A.

Don't knock mowing lawns. A friends son did it for years. He would plow the money into better equipment to do the faster and be be able to handle more jobs. It is this money that he used as a down payment on a 3 bedroom house out side NYC at age 25.

Mike that's a nice story and i wish your son good luck with his A. I will keep an eye out for him once he gets his license.

I have Model A night every Tuesday from 5 pm to 9 pm
We have at least 20 Model A Ford within 15 miles from my place, you are welcome to join us! Send me a PM I will give you the info

Congrats! Stories like this give me faith in today's youth! I got my first car ('30 Deluxe Coupe) in high school in 1970. I paid for it my mowing grass at a large recreation complex (camping grounds, golf course, etc) for $1.25 / hour. I still have the car. Lots of good memories!

Congratulations Michael! Great looking car. You'll get all the girls when you drive it to school! You did a great job of setting a goal and reaching it. I saved change and an extra $100 here and there and bought my car at 55 after saving for FORTY YEARS!! You're way ahead of me.

I got my first model a at age 16. for $500 dollars and brought it home in the bed of a truck. im 39 years old and still bringing them home in the bed of a truck.lol

I bought my first 1930 A cpe at age 15 for $500 in Pasadena Calif from a man and wife, he had a Roadster and the cpe was the wife's both cars where matching blue. Always wish I still had that one, but a HotRod took its place.

Way to go and congrats! I was 16 years old when I got my 1929 Standard Coupe...my farmer friend also through in a 1929 CCPU...ALL for the very high price of $250.00! (Well...that was in 1966 and I had to pull a lot of rye for him to get that kind of money...but then there was my pop!)..
