I am in the process of rebuilding my 30 pickup two tooth steering gear box. Thanks to everyone that replied about reinstalling the worm gear I got the new one installed. I noticed the new thrust washer for the sector shaft has a raised center on one side and I am not sure what way that washer...

This is exactly what I did and it worked. Thanks again for the suggestion -Tom

Hello, does anyone have a good suggestion on how to install the steering worm gear back on it's shaft for a 1930 Ford. I was able to remove the old using my 30 ton press after I installed some cribbing under it to raise it about another 12" higher. This allowed the entire shaft to fit in place...

Hello, I have a 1930 Model A pickup and I am looking for the dimensions of the battery cutout in the floorboards specifically the width of the opening. The opening I have is only about 3" wide and the battery cover I just received from Mac's has a much wider finger spacing. Thanks -Tom

I got the steering box apart yesterday and the sector shaft busing are indeed shot. I was able to press them out and have some new ones on order. I think I will replace the two tooth gear as well as one side of the teeth appear to be slightly rounded off.

Hey Steve, I am from Detroit, Michigan originally and have a radiator shell off of a 1930 model A that my late father says was made in Canada. Is there anyway you know of to prove this? Thanks -Tom Anchorage, Alaska

Okay so I know this is probably going to be the million time this question has been asked but I recently like 3 weeks ago purchased a 1930 closed cab pickup model A. I noticed my garage floor was starting to get spotty with new oil drips so I put a couple of drip pans down on the floor to help...

Hello, I have a 1930 Model A closed cab pickup I want to add the sliding type door lock to the drivers side door. I have the sliding lock unit on order but can't cannot clearly see how or where exactly it gets installed. Thanks -Tom

Hello, I have recently purchased a 1930 Model A pickup truck about 3 weeks ago now. The truck came with an electric wiper motor and I was trying to determine how original this would have been. There is no vacuum piping or hose inside the cab nor is there any inside the engine compartment. In...
