Xcel Premium 20w50 non-detergent motor oil

Thanks to all who Chimed in. I found a Petroleum Quality Institute of America reference to this product online that says the information on their label is wrong and the stuff be avoided. I was curious about it because I didn't think there were any multi-viscosity non-detergent motor oils out...

    Heater bypass

My'46 heater core has sprung a leak. Since I store the car in winter , I'd like to just have the coolant bypass the heater but leave it in place under the dash. I see one hose going from the left lower radiator hose through the firewall to the heater and another coming through the firewall to a...

    Hotter Plug?

Any advantage to using a hotter plug than Champion H-10 in a rather tired 59A? Plugs are currently very black although electrodes are not burnt and I don't know how old they are so I thought I'd just replace them. Also, could a hotter plug do any harm and what would a good replacement plug be...

'55 Fairlane 3-speed gear shift knob.

I'm looking at a nice '55 Fairlane, older restoration, and thinking about buying it. It has a round, ping-pong-ball-sized gear shift knob on the 3-0n-tree. That doesn't seem right to me. Weren't they originally elliptical, sort of rounded and elongated? Thanks, Dan

    52 tudor rear window handle

I can't seem to locate the clip/pin that holds the window crank handle in place, Is it between the washer and the handle? Behind the washer? Between spring and washer? Also once I find it, (Ever the optimist, sort of) how do I get it off? Thanks in advance for any help. Dan

    Jack storage

Can anyone tell me the proper jack storage procedure for a factory stock '52 Custromline 2-door. It's probably the same for '52-'54, maybe even later. I'm pretty sure I have the original jack but I may be missing some storage apparatus. Just don't know. Thanks, Dan

It's working! I put the fuse back in,turned key on, still big current draw on ammeter. Got under car, pulled out a bundle of wires, including 2 from OD governor, that were suspended on a little steel loop on the frame. I separated them a little , crawled out from under and turned key on. No...
