    1938-39 Ford hood side emblems

38/39 ford pickups and truck engine side panel emblems use small stainless steel carriage bolts available from McMaster-Carr. 8-32 thread either 1/2" or 5/8" should work part # 9235A112 or 92356A113 about $ 12.00 for a box of 25. I do have them but I would have to charge probably $2.00 each plus...

    Hood side emblem stud repair?

38 and 39 pickups and trucks use a stainless steel carriage bolt to attach the emblems. My thought is you could drill out the emblem, file the hole square to fit the carriage bolt using jewelers files. Small stainless carriage bolts are available from McMaster-Carr.

    Battery drain

I don't thing the oil pressure sending unit would cause a battery drain, however if you disconnect your battery and place a test light between the battery and the battery cable ( in series) and the bulb glows you have a drain you could then disconnect your sending unit and confirm if that is the...

    1940 cowl lacing

I have a 39 pickup, I was contemplating using plastic push pins like on modern cars. It will never be judged as original.

    '41 pickup accelerator rod

If your not concerned about it being original I would think you could find an all thread coupling nut, cut and thread the throttle rod to extend it. You maybe would want to drill and tap some holes in the nut for set screws to stiffen it.

    1940 Pickup Bed Assembly

I bought my box from Mac Hill and asked for a factory floor tour when I picked up the panels. I would start by having the reinforced brackets welded into your rear stake pocket brace (at the U shaped rear cross member) I followed how Mac Hill's assembled their box I bought my box with the stake...

What type of alternator is this on my 40 Ford.

What voltage output do you get if you push a small screwdriver in the D shaped hole as shown in the # four picture (11 o'clock position). By using the small screwdriver to ground the regulator tab you bypass the regulator and are checking the max output of the alternator.

39 1 Ton headlight bezel question

I bought a pair of Headlight rims 48-13045 from Bob Drake when they first came out ( seven or eight years ago) and they are too tight to fit the headlight buckets 1/2 ton pickup. I picked up some originals at a couple of swap meets and they fit fine. I should have returned the ones from Bob...

42-47 1/2 Ton Pickup Running Board Hardware

Bob Drake has bolts listed for 1937 - 40 car and truck part # 78-16453 Midwest early ford has the same part # listed for 1937 to 48 cars. I know that the Bob Drake bolts are correct for a 1939 ford pickup. I agree they are a plow style bolt, I think they are 5/16 fine thread by 3/4" in length.

    Now it's junk from Carpenter!

There was a recall on the Pinto gas tank fiasco, there was a shield if I remember correctly made from a rubber or plastic material to buffer the zone. I am not sure the recall fixed the problem but I remember installing the part in the recall in the early days as a ford tech.
