    Can Rod Babbitts be ordered

So, I put a 5.5 head on my stock 1929 Model A 4 banger. Then I started to get some knocking - ok, I see people shaking their head yep. I assume the bottom end could not handle the higher compression. Correct me if I am wrong. But if that is the case, can I order a set of babbitts, or do they...

Physical difference in 4.5, 5.0 and 5.5:1 heads

I have multiple Model A heads in my garage. I can't remember which are good and which are not. Does anyone have a link or pictures of what the 4.5, 5, 5.5 and 6:1 heads look like. I once seen a picture that shows the physical differences, but have lost it. Appreciate it Dean

    Deep knocking sound

So I cracked the head and replaced it with a 6:1 head. Now I have a deep loud knock as I start it and when it is idling, and then hit throttle. What do y'all think it is, and what kind of test do I need to do to confirm what the issue is?

    Original Style Distributor

Ok, so I have a '29 pickup and it has an occasional backfire out the exhaust. I have replaced the head, rebuilt the carburator and no change. I am thinking I have more or less pinpointed the issue down to the condenser. I have original distributor and the condenser slides in the side. I replaced...

    7 tooth to 2 tooth

So, I still have the 7 tooth steering in my '29 pickup. I am told it would be easier to steer if I went to the 2 tooth. Well that starts alot more questions. Do, I just need the gears, or what are the other parts I need? Do I need to pull the steering rod completely out, or just up 16 inches out...

    Old style distributor

So, somewhere along the path my 1929 Model A pickup got the condenser mounted on the firewall. It is the new condenser that is "wired" from the wire in the old style distributor. I am looking to possibly switching back to "original look ". Just not sure how that looks. I can purchase old...

Removing drivers window on '29 Pickup

I am trying to remove the glass, to replace, on the driver's door of my 1929 Model A pickup. The issue is, getting the glass "out the top of the door". I have 3 screws at the top of the door and that is it. Those 3 screws are on the side / top, where you can see them when the door is open, not...

    Zenith carb

I have the threads in the bottom of zenith carburetor stripped. Not the one that goes all the way through to bolt together, the other one. What is the answer to get that to seal up? It is not a standard bolt as it has a hole in it. Is there a value in that hole? Can I use a longer bolt, without...

    Generator cutout

Hello everyone. I run my A and I get no amps on the meter. I turn on the lights and immediately goes to discharge. Never goes to the charging side. I check volts on the input side of the cutout. It shows 1.8-2.0 volts. One of the possible fixes is the ammeter. So I replace it, same thing.. One...

Model A manifold on '29 pickup

Hope all is doing well.. I have a couple questions: 1. On the intake / exhaust manifold gasket, should you use gasket sealant or put on dry? 2. What is the purpose of the rings that go inside the ports? and are the necessary - I forgot to insert and wonder if I need to pull it back apart...

1929 Pickup - Frame to body blocks

Hi there.. So, I just got my A all restored. I notice the doors are not aligned properly. I had all new blocks and rubber shims replaced. There was a gap in the top right corner at least 1/2 inch on drivers side and 3/8 inch on the passenger side. I since climbed underneath, jacked up the truck...
