Make and model ID (not A!)

Sorry this is not model A related but I don't know of any other transatlantic forum with the depth of knowledge of Fordbarners. Please can anyone ID this make/model for me? Photo taken in Canada c 1961. Thanks.

    Corrosion rad caps

Any suggestions as to how to minimise corrosion of the lugs of 30/31 rad caps? You can see how I've bodged a couple of these to get a few thousand more miles from each one. There must be a better way. Surely?

    Gazal cylinder head.

Anyone come across another head from this company Gazal? - Doubt it's Russian (despite its name ) as they also produced heads for 1930s Peugeot 301s, so I assume it's French ( images are from a French collector ). It's the first I've seen or even heard of!

transmission shifter shafts - ramped or not?

What was Fords original machining on the two shifter shafts? Were they both unramped. I've read (but never seen proof) that R/1 were ramped but 2/3 unramped. But many nowadays are both ramped. Did Ford change the machining of them if so when ?

    old VW crash pic

Yes Keith and Big Hammer, I suspect it's somewhere in UK. Definitely Bobbies helmets in background and it looks like the rear of a British Ford Consul Mk II (1956-62) on the left . The A's oil track seems to indicate it coming over from the L to impact the VW. The VW's reg plate is not UK - I...

Cluster gear shaft- drive out forwards or backwards?

Les Andrews book p 1-336 says "the cluster gear shaft is slightly larger diameter ( 0.001 ") at the front end and should only be removed through the front of the transmission case. Forcing the shaft out the rear may crack the case" , but a couple of the Youtube clips of transmission rebuilding...

Transmission bearings .. sealed or unsealed?

Any consensus on longevity of input/main drive bearings ( A 7025 and 7065)? Sealed? Unsealed? One side sealed? If single seal whether best to have the seal on the trans (or as per Vince Falter) on the UJ side?

    Upper Steering Column bushing

I can shift my steering column shaft laterally slightly and I assume the wick in the bushing has worn away over the years. Is there a " farmers fix" that people have used as I don't want to dis-assemble the whole steering just to remedy this minor rattling irritant . ( 1928 RHD 7 tooth just...

    More Toe In conundrums

These were posted by The Master Cylinder and Phil Brown recently. Do you know the thread per inch on the tie rods, how far the tie rod end moves per turn? So I guess one turn of the tie rod equals two times the threads?" "I believe there 24 threads per inch so .042 each side for one turn of the...

Identifying Cutout as conventional or electronic

I'm sure I read some how to check if a cutout is an electronic gizmo or conventional true cutout without taking the lid off, but can someone remind me ? Thanks .

    Why call it a Victoria?

Can anyone account for the naming of the Victoria? The bustle connection I find difficult to believe - surely Ford would not have wanted their latest model associated with a dress fashion that had finished over 2 decades previously? Was it simply a regal sounding name after the Tudor . Any...

    orienting emergency brake band

All may become clear when I come to reassemble, but is the side of the band in the picture with the red line the inboard edge or the outboard edge of the emergency brake ( 1928 Australian A) [Ignore the worn rivet... I know!]

Can anyone point me to a good diagram ( or picture - I seem to recall Tom Wesenberg posted one ) of rear brake spring positions and pin orientation for rear service and emergency brakes .

    Transmission fork shafts

Should the shift shafts have lead in/ lead out "tails" into the grooves or not? The Brattons website pics shows the high/intermediate shaft does not have tails but the pic of the low reverse shaft does have them. Here's what I've just received from a supplier ( not Brattons!) Are these worn...
