Glass Block Defense Bond Coin Bank..Sorta Model A

I've had this for a long time, and I got it from a fellow who had it even longer...He had a Kaiser Dealership, Gas Station and repair shop in the town where I grew up. Just thought it might be of interest.. Randy

    Terminal block electrical short...

I remembered having read this some time ago. Thanks Tom Endy! https://www.santaanitaas.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/A-Hidden-Electrical-Fault-Terminal-Block-TE.pdf Once I realized that this was the problem, repair i.e. insulating the studs was easy. Getting the box fastened back on the...

    Water pump core differences

I'm cleaning a couple old water pumps to use as cores when I order a new pump. The ends of the castings are different. See Picture. I know it looks like a washer/spacer on the one pump, but it isn't willing to come off easily. Is it part of the casting, or should I just get a little more...

    Original Ignition Coil Replacement?

I have an old Standard ignition coil that works fine. What I don't have is the Ford "can" and mounting bracket that is original. So, if I buy a used original style can with a coil( similar to the picture), and the coil itself does not work, will I be able to remove the old non-working coil...

    Instrument Panel Butler vs Chrome

Just thought I'd post a couple of pictures side by side..... I just changed them out... A very different look...the butler is there to stay.. I need to order a new ignition switch when I get some of those distributor plugs!

    Fuel Gauge Repair Success

I finally got around to repairing my fuel gauge. It would seep just a trace when the tank was over 3/4 full. I got the metal tools from Mike's Afordable, along with the gasket kits and additional large brass gasket. The brass float also came from Mike's. I followed the instructions in Les...

    Butler finish instrument panel

My 29 ccpu has a chrome instrument panel, so I'm always on the lookout for one with a butler finish...preferably a worn butler finish to match the rest of the truck.... Anyway, this one keeps popping up on ebay..same seller.... Is the grain of the finish going the wrong way? The one picture...

    Model A pickup camper shell

    Judging Standards Omission?

There is another current thread about interior rear view mirrors. So I wanted to look up the mirror I have but could not find a drawing. On page 10-8 Revised 2016 there is a table that indicates interior mirror style "B" with black finish should be on all closed models(ccpu included?) April 28...

    Crank Pulley Loose

Well, not really "loose", it seemed tight fore and aft but you could rotate it just a bit on the crank. Not having the right tool, I tried tightening the ratchet nut with the crank handle, there was no apparent movement... I read here that you can tighten the ratchet nut with a long punch and a...

    Door nail and panel removal

My wife and I made door and interior panels for the ccpu last winter... Now the door latch on the passenger side won't release from the inside handle. The latch fully retracts when using the outside handle but not when using the inside handle.. So it needs some work. I can't seem to get the...

    Odd Electrical Problem...

Had the Model A parked around side of the house. When I went to move it into the garage about halfway there it coughed, sputtered and quit....wouldn't start..had to push it into the driveway.. Sounds like a fuel issue.... Fuel valve is on, fuel in tank, vented cap but removed it anyway..plenty...

    The First Thousand Miles..

At least for me... Brought it home the last week of April 2015. One of the first things I did was to have Papanick rebuild the speedometer, which never worked while we've owned the truck..it always read zero miles... I've taken the "work a little, drive a little" approach. Learned plenty...

    Motometer..unknown mfg...

I got this online for a reasonable price.....it works and that is a bonus... But what is it? It does not have "Boyce" on it. A search turned up fine threaded screws as an attribute of an original motometer... 60's or 70's repro? There are patent dates on one of the discs...Mar 17-14, Jul...

    Fuse in headlight harness

I've been thinking about this for a while, I like the idea, but........ The fuse block works perfectly..you just need to move the jumper wire to the large terminal, and the harness fits onto the small terminal... Looks a little busy in there though....I'm not sure if I like it.... I may have...

    Andy's Model A Clinic 1962

After my dad found the 29 ccpu on the streets of Reno Nevada(Center Street, near the Dairy Queen!), with a "For Sale" sign pasted on it. He took it to Andy. The picture in my avatar is the "before" Didn't spend a lot, but got it running and safe to drive, then a new roof and paint. Anyone...
