    1932 Ford Vin

I'm looking at a 1932 Vicky that is showing a vin of BCS 2671. Checking Van Pelt and other info, I cannot make sense of this. What am I missing?

    V8 60 front motor mounts

Still trying to finish HEBE, my 1933 Summerset hydroplane PODH class with a V8 60. Found a nice aluminum cover plate that plugs the original water pump openings. However now with this plate installed, how is the engine supported in front?

    Electric Water pump?

Joe Behgosian in Fresno Ca is currently rebuilding a V860 for my 1933 Sommerset hydroplane (HEBE 0-60). Originally it was direct drive as a race boat and had no water pumps, but used two scoops on the bottom as water intakes. I thought it would be too difficult to handle without a "neutral" so...

    V8 60 block boring amounts?

Still trying to rebuild a V8 60 for my 1933 Summerset Hydroplane, PODH class. Talking to several engine builders, I have gotten conflicting opinions on what is the maximum they can be bored. More than one has said they have gone to .100. My builder does not want to go over .030. What is safe?

    v8 60 block

Still looking for a V8 60 block for my 1933 PODH class hydroplane. I was cautioned to stay away from the early (1937?) blocks because of the "tin sides." However, with the great gasket products we have now, is leaking still a problem? Polished, it seems they would be attractive. Are there...

    Another Trans Question

My 36 Phaeton, which we think is all original (older restoration) pops out of second gear when slowing down in gear. On acceleration, no problem, just when slowing down. I can hold it in gear manually. 1st and third are fine. I don't mind double clutching. Should I just live with it until...

    Need V8 60

Still looking for a bare block 38 or 39, up to .030 over for my 1933 PODH class raceboat. If a 40, I need a crank too.

    1940 V8 60 Crank

I have to replace the block on my V8 60 engine for my old wooden race boat (HEBE). It is the PODH class. In considering a 1940, I have been told the crank is longer to enable a different fan connection, but also that the "coupler" would be moved back. What is the "coupler." Does moving it...

    V8 60 block

Just found out the block for my 1933 PODH race boat we are restoring is cracked. Checking all my contacts and thought I would ask here too. Any recommendations? Are the cast motor mounts on the block all the same for every year? Also what about the cast mounts on the "French" blocks, are they...

    Reduced clutch pressure

We are restoring a 1933 race boat that at some time was repowered with a V8 60 run in the POD class. It was run with direct drive only, no transmission, so when it was started it was moving. We want to use it recreationally so some sort of "neutral" is necessary. We found a bell housing I...

    V8 60 oil pan removal

Purchased a 1933 race boat with V8 60 power. (HEBE.) Have disassembled most of the engine, but don't understand how the oil pan is attached. The normal fasteners are used attaching it to the bottom of the block but it seems to be attached to the rear of the block with no fasteners visible...

    1936 Distributor

My 1936 has a 2 screw coil. The rotor is the bronze color, which I believe is correct. However the points are the one piece style which I though was from the 3 screw coil type. Some catalog listings show the later distributor started in 37. Others have told me they were used in late 36...

    94 or 97?

Trying to get my 1936 Phaeton to run better.. Right now it has the 94 carb and the power valve issues seem to haunt me. It runs poorly under load. We fixed a cracked intake, had the dist gone over by a "professional" so stuck or leaking valves and the carb seem to be the issues. Should I go to a...

    French flathead any good?

I have access to what is represented as a new French flathead, Motor (still partially wrapped) appears to be complete, carb (Solex?), generator, starter, distributor, 6 blade fan. I understand these had a boss giving access to use a governor. Would this be a practical replacement motor for my...

    Engine stand requirements

Planning on pulling the engine out of my 36 Phaeton. Have been told by this forum to be sure to use the exhaust manifold bolts and not the bellhousing to secure it to a regular engine stand. Is this an adapter I can make or rent?
