    Spindle Wear

Is this something I should be afraid of, or am I ok to continue driving on this spindle? I haven't looked at the other side yet but I doubt it's any better.

    Fuel pump oddity

When mounting the fuel pump to my 8CM, the rod seems to be about 1/2" too long because when the cam is as full rise, the pump sits about 1/4'1/2" off the intake manifold. The rod is seated in the receptacle of the pump. Is there something I'm missing here? I got the engine disassembled but...

    1925 Pickup Bed Dimensions

Can anyone tell me the dimensions of a stock 1925 wood pickup bed? I have a '25 T with a '26 steel bed and I'm having a cover made for it, but I don't know what the difference in size is. I'm especially interested in how far the rear of the bed protrudes past the rear wheels. Thanks in...

    Rod Cap Nuts

OK, last newbie question for the day! What is the recommended fastener(s) for the rod cap nuts? I think I see that the stock piece is a little stamped steel thing. Is it better to use nyloks, locktite, etc?

    Which Sealer?

Sorry for all the newbie questions but I', getting ready to button up my engine and I'm wondering which, if any, of the sealers I have would be the best for water pumps, front cover and oil pan. I have in the garage: 1. Locktite Aviation (same as Permatex Aviation, non-hardening) 2. Permatex...

    Green Paint for '39

I plan to paint my pickup in the not too distant future but have some trim pieces I want to paint now, such as windshield frame, so that I can put my new glass in. Is there a correct green paint for a '39 pickup available in a spray can?

    Head Gaskets

Hi all, I'm rebuilding my first flathead because I can't afford to pay someone else to do it. I'm at the point of refitting the heads but have run into a curiosity. A few of the holes in the head gasket do not match the water passages, etc. Is it common practice to cut away the holes to match...

    '39 Windscreen

Can anyone explain, or better yet post photos, of how the windscreen frame on my '39 pickup comes apart? I've drilled out any screws that would not come out on their own but the frame is stuck together tightly. I don't know if it pulls apart, slides apart, etc so I'm afraid to force anything...

    8CM - Uneven heads?

I got the impression from another thread that this is not normal, so here are a few photos. Notice that the left head does not sit flush with the top corner of the block while the right does. This engine was running at one point in its life with exactly the parts you see in the photos. Is...

    Stud length for '53 Merc?

I want to use studs in my '53 8CM instead of bolts, but I need to know the length of the studs I would need before I can order them. Would anyone have this info? Thanks!
