    Water pump temperature bulb sealant

Is there any sealant needed for the threads of the nut that holds the temperature sensor in the water pump? The nut seems like straight threads and not pipe threads and there's a lip on the top of the sensor that the nut appears to press against. I'm assuming the sensor and nut don't require...

Ford Oval Porcelain Sign ID Help

Can anyone tell me about this sign? I've not see one so small and wonder what it could have been used for? I purchased this porcelain sign at Hershey this year. It measures 12" across the oval and 9" from the top of the oval to the bottom of the "V". The back side is black and the metal is...

1935 Oil Bath Air Cleaner Installation - Stud Lengths

I'm installing the accessory oil bath air cleaner on my 1935 Truck. I'm wondering if anyone knows if Ford ever included three longer head studs for installing the air cleaner? The base which rests on top of the right-hand head is about 0.15" thick and there isn't the same amount of extra...

    Rail Wheeled Ford Trucks

Here are a couple of 1935 Ford pickup and truck rail conversions. I just love the chain drive from the rear drive wheels of the rail bus conversion. Steering wasn't an issue but the engine control linkages must have been interesting. The 1935 big truck conversion looks just like what is seen...

    Half-Track Ford Trucks

Here are some images of truck conversions from 1936 with half-track or caterpillar tracks. Converted by Cunningham in Rochester, NY, the Canadian government purchased several for pulling artillery. I'd love to have one and drive it to my local grocery store or Home Depot. The only real...

    1953 F100 Overdrive help needed

I received a message from a fellow in Connecticut who wants to put an overdrive into his 1953 F100. According to him it has a 239 V8 and 3 speed. I don't know anything about 1953 pickups or overdrive units. Does can anyone help him with this project? Just let me know and I'll put you in...

Dulling the ABS Interior Panel Finish

I have the "chicken track" ABS interior panels for my 1935 truck. I'd like to take the gloss off the finish. I tried Rustoleum 2X Clear Matt spray but it didn't seem to make much of a difference. Has anyone had success in dulling the ABS interior panels?

Seat Cushion Frame Dowel Plate 50-815376

There are a couple of threads which mention the three-hole plate under the seat plywood support for trucks. There were some conflicting stories and I wasn't sure of the applicability and that bothered me. I wanted to have the "official" story and purchased the 50-815376 Seat Cushion Frame...

    1937 Oil Bath Air Cleaner

Does anyone have a photo of an original decal which is located on the side of the 1937 Oil Bath Air Cleaner (Part No. 79-18205)? I have a copy of a United Air Cleaner advertisement (see attached) but the image not sharp enough to read the label. There is a reproduction label available and I'm...

    Strongs Garage

In case you haven't seen Strong's Garage on YouTube, I find it fun. It's two fellows from Canada (North of Edmonton). The run an old car repair shop using old tools and feature quite a few Fords. They have a series of videos and I enjoy their style. Here's a link to the most recent episode...

80 lb oil pump in 1935 flathead - is this okay?

The engine rebuilder installed an 80 psi oil pump in my 1935 flathead block. The rest of the engine is stock. Since the original pump has a 50 psi limit, will the extra 30 psi cause any issues? I assume (a bad thing to do) that there is a oil overpressure limit function like a spring relief...

    Radiator Fan Identification Help

Can anyone identify this radiator fan? It's about 16-1/2" diameter, 5-1/4" from the front face of the fan blades to the back side of the hub and the hub is just over 4-1/4" long. The closest it seems to be from 8600 series fans listed in the Green Book is a 1942-48 6-cylinder passenger car...

BB Truck transmission case and a few parts

More clearing out. This came from a BB truck (maybe a 1932?). Surface rust only, no cracks. A few gears and other parts come with it. This is headed to the scrap metal pile unless someone wants it. I can bring to Hershey in the first week of October or local pickup near Washington DC. It's...

Clearing out and trying to save from going in the scrap metal pile. This is a 1936 transmission housing. It's been almost completely cleaned to bare metal. No cracks. I have no other parts for this one. It's free, but you have to figure out how to get it. Local pickup near Washington, DC...

    Stained Glass Ford Window Hanging

My younger son surprised me yesterday for my birthday with a stained glass oval Ford script window hanging. The blue glass is from hand formed sheets. It's hanging in the window next to my computer so I'll see it a lot.

    Carburetors - Free

I have four carburetors, take one or all. I've done my best to figure out what they are, but it's out of my experience and knowledge range, so no guarantees. Pictured from left to right: Ford EC W7-1 1936-38 Lincoln-Zephyr Ford EAB 1952-53 Holley ECG5 1955-56 For parts only and as-is, you...

1930's Truck Coupling Shaft Seal Material

What is the modern replacement material for the original square felt rope for mid-30's Ford trucks used to seal the torque tube and coupling shaft tube? The car and commercial (pickups) originally used a smaller cork material in the cap, so I know the car version won't work. Any ideas on...

King Seeley Handy "Servo" Governor help

I recently got a King Seeley Handy "Servo" Governor. Does anyone know about these for flathead Ford applications? It looks like it is pre-war and came with a dual throat assembly. These clues lead me to think that it fit's a flathead engine. The mounting bracket looks damaged but otherwise...
