'48 Super Deluxe gauge reads negative

My dash gauge when charging reads negative and I can't figure out to reverse this false reading problem. It's a one wire connection, so how can it be connected wrong? Could it be a polarizing problem and if so how do you correct it.

    1948 Ford Super Deluxe Convertible

Has anyone ever attempted or know anyone who has...convert a Super Deluxe to a Super Deluxe Sportsman? I know anything is possible, but I'm trying to ascertain the level of difficulty and if there are any serious gotchas to undertake such a project?

'48 Super Deluxe Convertible trunk problem

For the life of me I can't figure out how to correct the hair trigger my trunk latch is on...it either won't catch at all or if it does, breathing heavy will pop it off. There is no apparent damage to either the handle latch or the strike plate. There is practically no flexibility in how...

    Radio question

I have a 1948 Super Deluxe Convertible and with an original, but now non-working radio (unless you like to listen to static). Is there someone who repairs them or is there a period looking radio replacement option that anyone knows about? Thanks

    Texas Barn Find Update

Since I reported my wife finding a Model A on one of the adjacent family farms it’s been a couple weeks and yesterday I was able to take a firsthand look for myself. The farm is family owned (wife’s side) but this particular farm has been abandoned for years and sits between other farms in the...

    Question on trailering

I have done a couple of searches and read a lot of old threads on this subject, which conflict with each other and I wonder if those with actual experience might offer an opinion here? I just picked up a custom open car hauler, it's 16', wood deck and front shield. I'm very happy with it and...

    Mileage question

Yesterday I went on my first club drive that all in all for me, garage back to garage, was about 100 miles (assuming my odometer is accurate). I had gassed up the night before so I had a full tank gas starting out. I had heard I should get 17 to 18 mpg, although I've never checked it. Well, I...

    Radiator leak

I just went out and filled my radiator to the top and seem to have a leak once I started it up. I can't determine where the leak is coming from, but I have antifreeze leaking when it runs. I filled it with distilled water btw, but the previous owner must have filled it with antifreeze. First...

    Barn Find

Yesterday my wife went to visit an elderly relative on the farm she had inherited (we have a farm down the road that we currently lease) and while visiting mentioned we had a Model A. Her elderly aunt said her dad had a Model A back in the day and it has been in one of the barns for years. So my...

    Backfire

Took a drive the other day and went about 3 or 4 miles when I pulled in to gas up...as I shut her down she gave out a loud backfire, which surprised me as she doesn't normally backfire at all. Drove another 30 miles making a few stops along the way, yet not another backfire the whole time...

    Shifting

Went for a long drive today taking advantage of our 80 degree weather here in Texas. The car drove great most of the time, but occasionally didn't want to shift into 2nd gear for some reason. Double clutching helped once in a while, but not always. Seemed I had to slow down and start from 1st...

    Old logging camp photos

The first pic shows a couple of old Fords (Probably Model T's) in this photo from an old logging operation. In the second photo I'm not sure what the vehicle is that's pulling the motor home made out of a log and just for grins, the third photo of the inside of the log motor home.

    Step Plates

From all my looking, there doesn't seem to be a prescribed location for step plates to be added to the running boards...or am I wrong on this? In two door vehicles they seem to be centered in each door, whereas in 4 door vehicles things seem to vary more. I have observed that in some cases...

    Head Light Problem

My driver's side head lamp is not working, the passenger side works fine and using it I confirmed the bulb in the driver's side head light was just fine. All other lights work fine as well. I checked all the contact points inside the lamo and all looked to be fine. I was wondering if there...

Help me identify my Dad's Model A

I just received a photo of my dad's Model A and being new to the hobby I can't identify it and was hoping someone with a whole lot more knowledge then I might be able to help. This is the only photo that I have. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer. george

    Marvel Mystery Oil

It was suggested to me to put 4ozs of Marvel Mystery Oil in each tank of gas for better performance and longer engine life. Is this good advice? Is anyone else doing this? Any potential downsides to making it part of a standard diet for Model A? How about as an additive in the Crankcase...

For starters, I am new to Model Aing and also new to this site, so let me ask for forgivness up front for a dumb questions I might ask. I am most appreciative for any assistance anyone might be able to provide. I purchased a renovated Model A Phaeton sight unseen, but after viewing a 100 or so...
