Has anyone ever attempted or know anyone who has...convert a Super Deluxe to a Super Deluxe Sportsman? I know anything is possible, but I'm trying to ascertain the level of difficulty and if there are any serious gotchas to undertake such a project?

As I recall, the wood on the Sportsman was not laid over the sheet metal, there were a series of steel braces that the wood was attached to. You would have to remove all the "body: sheet metal and fabricate the framing before you could attach the wood.

I know the Browns (rbwoodies.com) in Washington State were doing the conversion. I'm not sure they are still in business. Jeff Yeagle in PA is doing a conversion. He is Sawsall on the barn.
There are conversions on the road.

I am doing a conversion..
which entails.
new inner fenders, new trunk floor (extended and widened), removal of the quarter panels, the outside skins of the doors get removed, and discarded..
and you'll need a gravel pan (sportsman only) and a pair of rear fenders..

all this before you start making wood. which is attached to the aforementioned structure with 1000's of screws.

I'll have a set of wood available for sale soon.. working on the last few parts now.

From what I have read, the Convertible rear Fenders will need replacing with ones from the Sedan Delivery. They use the same Taillights as the 41 Fords.
