    33-34 Bumper Brackets

I am looking for clarification on these bumper brackets. They are marked 33 and also 33-34 . They happened to be with a bunch of other stuff I bought at an auction. I do not want to misrepresent or sell something that is not described properly. From what I have gathered the inside bumper bolts...

    Any ideas? Still Rich!

I thought I had the dual 97's worked out but apparently not. My plugs are still carbon fouling. The mains are .042 and and I disconnected the pump rod and it still smells rich. Upon throttle it will smoke out of both banks. I used carb cleaner to see if I could detect any vacuum leaks but none...

    I may be crazy!

Is it possible for a flathead to over run? Driving my Model A I have noticed that when coming to a stop if I don't downshift and lug it down the idle wants to run up around 1000-1200 rpms. Last Sat I did around 150 miles and going up a typical TN hill I was running in 4th gear around 1900 rpms...

    Working with dual 97's

I have been messing with a dual 97 set up for a 59AB. The engine is .030 over and I was told it has a 400JR cam. The carbs have .43 main jets and 69 PV's. When cold I hit the throttle one time and pull the choke (both are hooked up) and it will fire, just a little on the cold nature side...

    59 AB Missing

Hey guys I had a chance to work on this engine last night and here is what I found. The Autolite 414's were too long and the valves were coming in contact slightly. I removed them and believe it or not it took 4 parts houses to come up with two sets of plugs the 216's and the H10C. I gaped them...

    Carb question on new project

Hey guys I recently picked up a 31 coupe with a 59AB in it. It had run issues when I purchased it but due to the deal that was struck it did not concern me. So as Ol Ron say's I started putzin around with it. The engine has a set of Navarro heads with a Navarro 2x2 intake and a pair of 97's. The...

    Getting closer

I got my Flathead back a few weeks ago. Slowly getting it together, clayed the heads today and got them installed. Still have a few more parts to buy and decide on intake and carbs, pcv vs road draft tube, manual or electric fuel pump. Still getting excited to hear it fire up.

    Canadian Flathead?

While the 51 Merc Flathead is being checked at the machine shop I went ahead and traded a SBC for this 24 stud flathead. The heads are marked C7RA-A there is no marking at the rear of engine. It does have the rear bell drilled for return oil passage but the cross port is not plugged. I did see...

    51 Merc Flathead Question

I have a 51 Merc flathead motor that I bought less the bell housing. I purchased a stamped steel bell housing. The bell housing looks correct and all mounting holes look good. 1951 Mercury Flathead

I recently purchased a 51 Merc Flathead engine to build for a future project. I have a question about the water pumps. It seems these are different from all the rest and harder to come by. My question is will any other Ford pump mount to the block and work? The tabs for the motor mounts are...
