    Gasket between manifolds?

I am installing new intake and exhaust manifolds from Snyder’s and wondering if I should use Permatex between them where they bolt together? If so which one? Maybe stop heat transfer?

Removing Model A modern valve guides

I am having trouble removing my worn out “modern” valve guides. I have been soaking them in Troil and hammering on the head of a 5/16” bolt that is inserted inside the guide. I have beat on it extremely hard with a hefty hammer, but it has not moved. Hard enough to wonder if I am mushrooming the...

    Finding exhaust leaks?

I would like to find where my exhaust is leaking. Has anyone tried spraying water or oil into the throat of the carburetor, while the car is running, to create smoke or steam to watch for leaks?

Marvel carburetor GAV threads in casting?

I need to buy and run a tap into a corroded casting where the GAV nut screws in. In measures really close to 7/16 x 20 tpi or 11mm x 1.25. Anyone know if it is metric or english?

    Marvel leaking fuel

I recently installed a rebuilt Marvel carburetor and I love its performance, but I notice it is leaking a small amount of fuel from the air vent hole on the side of the carburetor up high. Weaping might be a better description as the amount is very small. Anyone know if this is normal? Or what...

    Zenith carb secondary well machining

Tom Endy and others mention machining a relief into the brass secondary well to correct a problem. Does anyone have detailed information on how and where to machine this relief? I would like to try it.

    Carburetor gas leak

I recently rebuilt my Zenith1 carburetor with a kit from Snyder’s. After the rebuild I experienced the proverbial gas leaking problem. Everything pointed to the new float valve, from China, not sealing properly. There is much in the forums about the poor quality of new float valves. However...

    Spring or frame problem?

Why does the left rear of my car sag? Do I need to replace the spring? The front of my ’31 coupe is level, but the left rear sags down about 1 inch. (Measured at the fenders and bumper). I will soon be pulling the rear end out to install a Mitchell Overdrive and wondering if I will be able to...

Turn signals, 6 volts and LED bulbs

Correct me if I am wrong. The information I have gleaned from the forum is that 6 volt turn signal flashers are incompatible with LED bulbs. The LED bulbs do not pull enough current to operate the flasher. The option seems to be to install load resisters. Anyone know how hot these resisters get?

    Wet feet from rain?

Has anyone tried using E6000 adhesive in cracks to stop rainwater from coming in around the gas tank where the welting is? I have read where I should not use silicone because it will cause rust. All suggestions welcome.

Wondering if I am the only one that uses WD40 for cleaning the grease off my hands?

    Mitchell overdrive compatibility?

I read an article by Tom Endy that says, “The Mitchell overdrive stub shaft is not compatible with the early pinion gear.” His pictures show the two different gears. Is there any way to tell if my differential has the “early pinion gear” without opening it up? I am pretty sure my differential is...
