    Generator not charging

I have a model A generator that won't charge, but will run as a motor on the bench. I suspect that the generator does not have enough residual magnetism to start the charging process. If lack of residual magnetism is the problem, how is it corrected? If residual magnetism is not the problem...

    1935 tail light housings

The reproduction 35/36 tail lights from Vintique have a SS housing painted black. (they're non- magnetic.) This is so they can use the same housings for 33/34 and 35/36, but just paint the ones for 35/36. Were the original 35/36 tail light housings made of SS or of conventional steel. don Q

    Generator rotation

I was checking a number of model A generators. First I checked to see if they would run as a motor. All but one ran clockwise when facing the pulley. This one ran CCW. I then used my motor fixture to see if they would generate. Most charged at 3-4 amps and the voltage at the battery...

    residual magnetism?

I have a generator that runs well as a motor on the bench, but when installed in a car and polarized, it will not charge. I measure the voltage at the generator output terminal so the cut out is not a factor. I was told that the problem is that the generator has no residual magnetism and...

    body nails

I'm putting new door headers on my 29 pickup and the cab corner panels are nailed to it. I'm not sure what the nails are. It looks like a #2 common nail would be about right. They are ~7/8 inch long and have a flat head. Would this work OK or did the original have a stronger crown head of...
