Simplest way to replace T/O bearing on slider

Barner's, I am wondering what is the most practical way to replace the throw out bearing on the slider. Transmission is out, so access is not the question. I understand these are "press fit," so the question is how do you remove the old one and install the new one? Hydraulic press for install...

pinion gear double cup bearing issue

In preparation for a Mitchell overdrive I removed the torque tube from the banjo and the drive shaft with pinion gear and double cup bearing just fell out of the banjo housing. I'm pretty certain that is not supposed to happen! There is some scoring where it appears the double cup bearing was...

    Spring Perch install

Hey fellas. I was wondering a couple of things about installing front spring perches in the axle. 1) Is a press required to install perches in the axle? If so, with the shape of the perch, how is that done? Meaning, where do press? 2) Vendors sell either the perches with steel bushings already...

    Why won't it start?

Starter seems to be turning, but not engaging flywheel. I removed starter and checked Bendix. Rear bolt gone out of...

    Fan came apart!!

First time posting on this side of FB as I am a Model A guy. I picked up this pretty nice stock '39 pickup a little over a year ago and just got it back on the road. Test drive #2 and the metal fan blew apart and really caused some ugly damage. I've heard of this happening in Model A's, so...

    clutch/brake shaft help

I was hoping to get a few opinions regarding my very loose clutch/brake shaft. This was a car I recently purchased and noticed the shaft has up to 3/8" end play in all directions. I know that I will need to replace it, but I was wondering what you all thought might be the cause of it. Loose pin...

    A-400 wood

Do any of you have photos of the wood in your A-400? I need photos so that I know what parts to order or recreate. None of the vendors have diagrams/photos. "ClassicWood" has sent me a couple of parts list's, but that's all I can get. Anyone have anything that might help? Thanks!

    stuck transmission?

I just reinstalled my engine after the replacing pressure plate and clutch disc. Now my transmission seems to be stuck. The gear shift lever will move but the R,1,2,3 pattern is not there. There is no neutral position. The only way to disengage the engine is with the clutch pedal pushed in and...

I have a slant window 4-door with all the top wood in need of replacement. Can all of the wood be replaced with the cowl/firewall section attached to the rest of the body, or does it need to be cut and removed? I restored a straight window fordor, including all the wood, and am wondering how...

    Help with radiator cap spray

I have had a reoccurring problem of spray coming under the radiator cap and decorating my hood. It occurs on longer pulls (up a hill) regardless of environmental ambient temperature. It does not occur with increased rpm. I have a moto-meter that works (tested it), and it indicates that my engine...

I have 1,100 miles on my newly restored A. The engine was rebuilt by a professional builder but a crack in the front of the block has appeared. I am guessing that it was not magnafluxed. I have it in a climate conditioned shop. The crack is up and under the portion of the block that is the...

Stalling while coming to a stop

If I run my GAV any less than 1/2 a turn open, my car stalls when coming to a stop. Then it idles bad (too rich) until I close it. So, every time I come to a stop, I have to mess with the GAV. Do you think the float is incorrectly set? Other suggestions?

    snow pic

Finished this '30 Fordor about a month ago after a 5 yr. ground-up restore and couldn't resist a snow pic. Its not a great photo, but it looks beautiful to me! :D It sure didn't like getting back up the hill to its home in my shop! I am thankful I still have a son at home to serve as "pusher".
