    Mercury Pressure plate problem

In my 32 I am using a 1949 Mercury pressure plate. I just swapped out the 1939 transmission for a fresh 1932 transmission. Both transmissions had the same 1932 clutch arm. I replaced the original 49 Mercury pressure plate with a new one that was supposed to have come from Fort Wayne clutch...

New Speedometer Drive Worn out in 60 miles?

Has anyone else had a new speedometer drive wear out right away? This is a 18 tooth drive, I bought it as a complete unit from a reputable supplier. Car is a new build, late 1932 torque tube. Is there something wrong in my setup or is this a repo parts problem. It worked very well at first...

1932 Accelerator pedal distance from floor

Hi, I am just confirming that nothing is bent. In a 1932 V8 car how far does the accelerator sit from the floor in the at rest state? Another way of looking at this is how much travel does the pedal have before it touches the wood floor board. Thank you

Removing broken ignition switch pin in a 32

Hi, The ignition switch pin is broken off flush in my 32 column drop. Any tricks for removing it? The replacement looks knurled, but can it be removed by twisting, or does it need to be pulled straight out? Was thinking of drilling it out, but worry about making the hole oversized. Thanks

    Torque tube bearing Race

Hi, I cleaned up the NOS torque tube race I purchased and it has lots of pitting. My original has wear groves where the bearing cage rides. Which on is better to use or should I find a better one? This is a late 32 tube with no center bearing.

1932 Transmission mount- should this be flush?

Should the metal inner be flush to the rubber side that goes against the transmission? This is an original rubber, maybe it has swelled up? It seems like it needs to be so that the rear bearing is held in place. Thanks

Do you grease your transmission bearings on a rebuild

I am just about done my first rebuild of a 39 transmission. I know the front and rear bearings are lubricated by gear oil splash. Do you grease them so they are not dry on the first start up? I put gear oil on them that is slowly running off. I still have lots of things to complete before I...

Transmission main shaft snap ring install

The snap ring that holds the bearing on the main shaft is really fighting me on the install. I am using a new ring from Van Pelt and the USA made Lisle snap ring pliers. Mac’s book says to get one end in and then tap the other end in with a punch. This results in the other end popping out...

Hi, Just putting 1940 brakes on my 1934 Ford Banjo. I noticed the adjustment cam bolt and the spring hanger are very close. I can’t fit my normal 11/16 open end wrench in behind the spring hanger. If you have this setup are you grinding down a wrench to fit or do you have another trick to...

    Transmission Roller Bearings- condition?

Hi, How do you assess the condition of the roller bearings when you are inspecting them. I know that pitting and galled bearings are junk. I have read lots of complaints about the new bearings that are available and I have lots of used originals to pick from. I plan on replacing the main...

    1932 Transmission Detents

Hi, Are these detents OK for wear? If not, who has the best replacements? I also watched a video where they rebuilt a model A top and added washers inside the detents to increase the spring pressure. Is this a good idea? Thanks

1929 front fenders at frame horns nuts

Trying to finish the installation of my front fenders, hood shelves and front apron. My fenders are original, it looks like there may have been cage nuts on them originally? How do these parts all fit together. I have repro hood shelves that aren’t helping things fit. Thanks
