    1941 Merc V8 Oil Change

My Mercury Reference book says my 41 should hold 5 quarts. Oil was near low end of dipstick mark last night, so I decided to pick up some 10W30 today and start fresh with new oil. I had never changed it but does not get many miles. Only ran long enough to back it out of the garage so it was...

    new tires from Coker

I installed four new tires on the 41 Mercury today. Nice whitewalls from Coker, look pretty sharp. Glad I spent the extra money for whitewalls, even though the car probably ran with blackwalls thru the war. Lots of work but I got it done. I did not see any balance weights. But always...

    battery ground on 49 F3

The ground cable on the 49 had multiple issues so I was going for upgrade, Pulled the head bolt and got a geyser of coolant. Not as simple a swap as I thought. Tightened her back up for now. I hate to ground to head bolt. But the old 6V starter needs the best chance it can get. Thought...

    Fun with 41 Mercury

Got a chance to show off Grandpa's Mercury at my daughter's wedding. I was amazed at how the young kids were so impressed. These were a few amateur photos but the wedding photographers went crazy with it. The old 4 door may not be sporty but sure does impress when you do the chauffeur...

    41 mercury just starting out

I brought home this 41 Mercury 8 that I recently purchased from Father-In-Laws estate. Has been sitting for three years now but was a real nice restoration. The only problem at the moment is 12volt negative conversion was only partially complete when he passed away. I will have to try and see...

    First excursion with 49 F3

I took over a F3 project from my brother a couple of months ago. Has flathead V8 and mostly original except updated 60s era rear axle, brakes and wheels. Has 4 speed original gearbox, no syncros, pretty noisy except in top gear but it shifts pretty well. My brother did do a nice job on the cab...

Weak emergency brakes - 41 Merc

Spent a little time on weekend getting a 41 Mercury back on the road. Restoration is about 5 years old and it has sat for well over a year. I only get to 'visit' this car a few times a year. So I collect some parts and drive several hours to play in the shop with it. This is my first post but I...
