    Flathead conundrum.

I’m trying to figure out what to do here. I have an opportunity to buy about 15 Flatheads, All 59 A-B except for one 8BA and one pre 38. Most have been pickled in drums full of oil for thirty + years. I’ve known about these for a long time. New owner now, just wants to get rid of them. But it’s...

    1947 Coupe running board mounting?

I’m getting ready to cover and mount the running boards to body. There are seven holes on each side that are threaded.(not counting the major body mount holes. But, I only have 12 sets of bushings that came in the running board kit. Does anyone have a diagram of how these are laid out? I do have...

    Crab distributor plug wire routing?

What’s the best way to run the wires off the crab cap without having them chewed up by the belts/pulleys, or looking like Medusa’s hair. The wires I have came with straight caps, But I’m thinking 90 degree would be better. Any source for these?

    Head gasket leak assistance.

Helping a friend out with a model T. I don’t have a lot of experience with these things. A little history, the car was bought with a “rebuilt engine”. About a year ago, the owner and some Helpers put a new copper headgasket on because it was leaking. About a month ago, the car would not start...

    Sedan delivery doors I.D.?

Just over a friend of mine’s and he has these doors and they sure look like maybe 36 to 40 Ford to me? He was going to give them to me, I have no use for them, but would hate to see them get thrown away. There was no bug on the glass so I could not make sure. Any ideas? Thanks!

    54 Mercury ignition switch

Helping someone out with his 54 Merc. Beautiful car, but the key will only turn if you giggle it up-down. He has a replacement tumbler, but not sure if it is correct. It looks like the hardest part is getting it out from under the dash. Anyone done this? Any shortcuts? Thanks, Ralph

    1947 Mercury hood hinges-upgrade

I’m going to help a friend out with the hood hinges on a 47 mercury coupe. It belongs to a widow and the hood needs to be put back on. I have a couple of questions. Are the Mercury hinges identical to the Ford hinges? And has anyone put an upgrade kit in to use telescoping shocks as on modern...

    Source for 11” front drums(48-52 F1?)

Source for 11” front drums(48-52 F1?) I have these self energizing front brakes that I would like to use on my 35 coupe. I believe they are from a 48-52 F1. They use an 11 inch drum, anyone have a source for the drums? Or better yet a part number that I might be able to cross to a local parts...

1947 coupe upgrade to airplane shocks?

Replacing the old Houdaille shocks(ripped holes in frame) with modern style. I used my 47 woody parts car lower shock mounts(bolt on) but I can’t figure out the top mount. Gas tank is in the way, and unlike the earlier rear crossmembers, this one is boxed in. I ordered some modern mounting...

    Door gap adjustment-1947

What is the correct procedure for adjusting the door gap? The doors are too far forward, almost no clearance. The rear of the door has a larger gap. It almost looks like the bottom hinge has to be bent to adjust it. Thanks, Ralph

Long time no see! 47 splash pan ?

Hello again, I probably have to do a “new member” thread I’ve been gone so long. :) Life&work got in the way, I finally retired and I am pushing on with the 47 coupe. I have a question about the lower radiator splash pan. I’m not sure if I have it on correctly, or if I have the rubber strip...

    Another transmission question please.

So I just tore down the 1924 transmission, cleaned it and put it back together. Only one problem the new clutch disc set Had an odd amount of plates. When I took the transmission apart, the round inner tooth disc was the first one to go in. When I tried duplicating that with the replacement...

    1924 transmission question

My friend is trying to get his 1924 racer together and needs me to change the spring and clutch pack on the transmission. I’ve never had one of these apart before, but it looks like I can put it in my press , push down on the top, and remove the pin and the spring will come off, correct?

Need a copy of body mounts for 47 coupe

Finally replacing the body/ running board rubber mounts on the 47 coupe. The Bob Drake kit is what I’m using, but I can’t find the instruction sheet with locations. Most I can figure out by the shape, but some are badly squished. And I want to make sure I’m putting the right ones in the right...

    47 brake springs too tight!

I weigh a tad over 200 pounds and with all my body force I still can’t get this spring within 2 inches of the brake shoe. Now I have put brake springs on big trucks for years and never had this much trouble. sometimes needing to use a 3 foot prybar to stretch them. I don’t see how to do this on...
