Source for front splash pan bolts?

Anybody know where I can find the two bolts that connect the grill upright to the front splash pan on my '48 Tudor? I have not been able to find the PNs in the Body Parts book. Thanks, Dave

    Engine diaper

Saw an article in The V8 Times about someone who was making engine diapers, so I thought I'd give it a try. I cut out a square from an old double layer tarp big enough to hold a couple of layers of absorbent pads. My wife was kind enough to sew in some magnets, and it fit perfectly! Hopefully...

    '47-'48 long door car trim

Looking for interior door trim to replace my kinked piece. Mine is a '48 Tudor Sedan, but I'm betting trim from a sedan coupe would also work. Roughly 41-1/2" long.

    Shocking horn!

Blew the horn on my 48 sedan yesterday and got a shock. Don't remember that happening before. Insulator is new. Hadn't noticed that before, but haven't had the need to blown the horn much either since it's been on the road. Any idea why that would happen?

Tudor rear quarter window-How's that work?

I've got a '48 Tudor Sedan and am wondering about the proper operation of the rear quarter windows. When I move the regulator, the windows move to the rear and stop. Are they also supposed to roll down, or is the front venting all they are supposed to do?

    How hot is too hot?

So, I've got less than 500 miles on my freshly rebuilt 59A-B flathead. .040 over, Merc 4" stroke crank, Isky Max-1, dual Stromberg 97s w/.041 jets, 180 thermostats, shrouded electric fan with 185 switch, 4# cap, dipped radiator. Before yesterday, it had been staying around that 185 mark, even in...

    Advice on replacing floor

So, as you can see by the attached pictures, I've got to replace the floor under the front seat of my '48 Tudor Sedan. Looking for suggestions on the best approach, words of wisdom from those who have had to do it already. I'll need to farm it out as I do not have a welder. Thanks, Dave

    What is it?

OK, so it's been so long since I took my engine apart that I forgot what this is and where it goes. I thought I took pictures of everything when I was disassembling it, but somehow missed this. I'm thinking it's a draft tube that goes under the fuel pump stand? If so, do I really need it if I'm...

Source for clutch/brake pedal assembly small parts

Anybody have a source for the washer (351536-S) and C-clip-like lock (7547) that secures the clutch and brake pedals to the ends of the clutch/brake pedal shaft (7506)? I'm guessing I can find the various clevis pins used in the assembly from McMaster-Carr as I don't see them available from...

    Steering gear grease retainer

Anyone know if it's possible to replace the steering gear grease retainer, 3591, without taking the box out of the car and taking it completely apart? Wondering if I could just take the pitman arm off and pry out the old seal, then push the new one into place over the roller shaft? Thanks, Dave

Source for oil filter inlet fitting?

Anyone know where I can source the fitting for the inlet side of the original oil filter on my '48 59A-B? The one that has the restrictor hole? Someone has messed up the threads on the original, and because of the compression fitting, I can't chase the threads far enough down to fix them...

    Bypass oil filter question

I'm trying to understand how the original bypass oil filter works on my '48 59A-B. So, I see there is a restrictor in the fitting on the supply side of the filter canister and two opposing similarly-sized holes in the stand pipe that the cover bolts to. Does the oil get forced through the...

    Backup light refurbish

Looking for some advice on how to refurbish my backup light. As you can see from the pictures, the wires are a bit bare. Is there a crimp-on end that I could buy that would replace the original? Any pictures of how you may have done it would be helpful. Thanks, Dave

'48 Steering column floor seal question

I bought a floorboard seal kit for my sedan and it came with two seals that fit around the steering column. In the attached picture, I know the smaller one on the right should be above the mat to hold it down, but I'm looking for advice on how the one on the left is positioned/oriented. It has a...

What is this vacuum valve for?

This valve is in the line from the intake manifold to the vacuum wipers. What does it do? I have converted to electric wipers, so I won't need it for wipers, but I'm wondering if I'd still need it plumbed into the vacuum line for the power disk brakes?

    Pillar light wiring/switch refurbishing

I'm re-doing the wiring harness on my 48 2 door sedan and would like to re-use the original pillar lights. I've converted the car to 12V and have installed Painless courtesy lights under the dash. The new courtesy light harness has 12V and ground wires. The originals only used a power lead and...

    46-48 upper shock mount

Looking for upper shock mounts for my 48 2 door sedan. I think they're PN 18152 in picture attached. The post that goes through the frame is what I'm looking for. The nuts and washers that go with it would be a bonus. Thanks, Dave
