Pillar light wiring/switch refurbishing

I'm re-doing the wiring harness on my 48 2 door sedan and would like to re-use the original pillar lights. I've converted the car to 12V and have installed Painless courtesy lights under the dash. The new courtesy light harness has 12V and ground wires. The originals only used a power lead and the housing acted as the ground. I've seen on previous threads that the rocker switch can be removed and refurbished, and I'd like to learn how that is done. Another option would be for me to just bypass the switch and run a ground wire from the under-dash courtesy lights and door/dash switch to activate the pillar lights.

Is there a way to refurbish the bulb mount in the pillar lights with new wires? Pictures would be especially helpful.

Thanks, Dave

You can wire the courtesy lights into the door switches or wire them into the parking light circuit of the headlight switch. You can bypass the original switch. Your local auto parts store should have the rebuild kits for your light sockets.

Thanks for the feedback TJ.
