Do shocks have same resistance up and down, in other words does shock dampen more on up stroke or down stroke??

this new engine will not idle like my other model A's...they will idle to point you could almost count fan blade turning over...this new engine has high compression head, counterbalanced crank, and B grind cam...wonder if the non stock items can keep it from idling like other model...

I have new rebuilt engine with Snyders 5.5 head, not installed by me but the builder..I now have a small leak at rear of head and have torqued all studs to 55 pounds...question is when I replace head gasket should I take studs out and put thread sealant on them so no water comes up studs..I know...

What is proper tension to apply to shock link, it has spring and some room for adjustment, but one of them I did not tighten enough came off...person found on road returned it to me..ha ha...so how tight to make them???

I am about to upolster my early 1929 Cabriolet, my dilemma is..all I have ever seen is tan tops, however my car had remnants of cloth that showed grey cloth on seats and grey bow drill on bows, so should top material be the olive drab that LaBarron Bonney shows in catalogue??

Have noisy trans in cabby, want to trade it for one I just rebuilt with new bearings etc...can I just lower rear end with spring attached and roll all backwards to replace trans...do I have to include the bell housing or can I get to four bolts inside bell housing holding trans...:(:eek:

Now what?? How do I tell if parts are serviceable or need replacement..after cleaning bearing they seem smooth spin with air and sound good..gears look good... not wear to point ..I will take pictures next outing to shop.. I would like to have a good trans..and not have to take it out again...Dick
