    Hood hinges

1940 Ford rear hood hinges. Were the originals intended to have grease on the rivets. There is a thin brass type washer at each rivet. I have a used set that I feel I can refurbish them. Seems the arms should have a snug fit? Thanks, Fourdy

    Fender braces

Wondering if any of you have used the brackets to replace the Y yoke bracket holding the fenders in place? 1940 Ford If so, heavy enough to be worth buying or should i just build some? Sales fellow at Drakes had no idea how or what they were made of or how sturdily built. Thanks, Fourdy

    40 Ford hood hinges (wanted)

I am looking for a pair of original rear hood hinges for a 40 ford. I can clean them up. I need a pair that is the original shape, not a re-pop. A very thin rivet peening failed on my new Drakes and the hood came down off center to the grille. Grrrr Let me know pricing. Thanks, Fourdy (Gary)...

    Evans?

I am hopeful to find some first hand experience with the use of EVANS coolant in a flathead. I have listened to quantities of "I have heard ---" but would like some personal experiences. Thanks, Fourdy

    Stock oil filter?

I am preparing to start my engine for break-in and have a question about the filter. The filter body has a tight rubber seal on the top and bottom that appears to seal against the inside tube. I have a new seal for the lid but don't know if anything more is required as far as seals go. Thanks...

    Oil filter education

I am using the stock flatty filter for the first time on my new engine. While cleaning it up I find only one very small hole in the inner tube about an inch from the top. Should there be more? I also have the restriction fitting at the canister inlet. These holes sure do seem to be small...

    Break-in oil & Ross pistons

I have been advised that I should use a break-in oil such as Gibs break-in oil for my rebuilt blower 276 flatty. I can’t seem to find whether or not it is indeed the best to use for break-in or any different than using VR-1 for both initial and after break-in. I could also use some advice...

    Block clean-up

Block was bake and shaked, muriatic acid soak (internal) for 4 hrs then 24 hour soak with "Rust 911". This is the cleanest I've ever been able to get done. The head plate is from Speedway and works well if you don't over tighten the bolts. Now onto porting and relieving. Fourdy
