I've got pertronix in my '48(was in it when I bought it) and just got one for my '46. Instructions don't tell how to time it. do you just install , start it and "fine tune" with the slight adj on the side. Kenny -Z Hills

Thanks all. I'm heading out to the shop to play. I have the electric pump on a toggle so will see what happens with just the manual pump. when it dies out floor boarding it I've checked plugs and they are dry. I'll check some more Kenny Zhills

OK. 1946 sedan V8 all stock 6V. 115 -125 lbs compression, installed electric fuel pump. new plugs & wires. been thru 3 distributors & 3 carbs. and run all new fuel lines. The car will run 75 plus mph when you ease up to it. But get home in the garage and rev it and anything over a 1/4 throttle...

some times my 46 w/original coil won't start, put a later model 6v coil on and had same problem. I ran a jumper off a toggle switch to the coil and hit it briefly to start when needed. problem solved. Sometimes your starter demands so much amperage the coil does not get what it needs to spark...

are silicone wires ok to use in the tight crammed together dist. cap of a 46 flat head ???? I have checked (I believe) all other areas fuel & ignition . can these plug wires be jumping spark??? Kenny Zhills Fl

my resent purchase , a 1946 sedan, runs and sounds great til about 1/2 throttle . had dist. out 3 times all set to spec and looks good even cleaned the vac. line coming from intake. all exhaust is clear ,carb is clean. starts at first bump on the starter button. goes flat and chokes & back...

good call on that oil tube Dave55 I will double check that .my concern was the water passages lining up .The 223 head was revamped for more even cooling but I don't know if the holes line up. I will check fordsix.com --thanks, Kenny in Zhills
