    Timing gear time

Finally got a look at my timing gear and it's looking pretty gnarly. I see Snyder's offers no less than three replacements. Any recommendations?

    No throttle to no run!

My stock 31 pickup went from running sweet to not running in a Hong Kong minute. I've gonr thru everything...fuel, carb, ignition. Nothing. Now I discovered air is coming out of the carburetor when I turn the engine over! How is this even possible? Am I losing my sanity?

    No throttle response

It started out as rusty scrap, but I might change it to Rusty's crap. This is driving me crazy. I put an old Tillotson carb on and it ran the same, for all the world like the throttle linkage has been disconnect, which it ain't.

    No throttle response

On a recent drive, my stock '31 pickup (zenith carb, mallory distributor) ran great and then stalled 20 feet from my driveway (on a very steep hill). I disconnected the fuel line at the carb and there was no fuel. I went thru the fuel path and didn't find any blockage, but changing an...

    SLOW starter

Solved the slow starter. It was caused by a cold solder job on the soldered brushes. These connections are difficult. Requires a soldering iron of 200 watts. New wires have to be "tinned" properly before connecting to the lugs. Had I to do it over again I wouldn't have even replaced the solder...

    SLOW starter

The starter in my '31 PU gave up the ghost after 40+ years of faithful service (just totally dead). I attempted an overhaul: cleaned up commutator, new bushings and brushes. It passes all the field continuity tests and the armature spins free, but when I jumper test it on the garage floor the...

V8 water pump on Model A

As Charlie surmised, there is more to the story. Actually my failures were fan related rather than water pump. My first was a shed blade on an old 4 blade fan (my bad) when I was running the stock water pump. The water pump did OK, but I didn't like the way it slobbered all over the engine...

V8 water pump on Model A

I am considering installing the V8 water pump conversion on my stock Model A. I know it will require running without a fan, which I'm willing to live with. My question is what is the total length of the adapter and V8 pump combination and will it allow enough clearance between the front end of...
