No throttle to no run!

My stock 31 pickup went from running sweet to not running in a Hong Kong minute. I've gonr thru everything...fuel, carb, ignition. Nothing. Now I discovered air is coming out of the carburetor when I turn the engine over! How is this even possible? Am I losing my sanity?

If air is coming out the carb...I would think it could be timing. The intake valve is open on the compression stroke or exhaust stroke...either way that valve should shut up. Basically I am saying the same thing as Master Cylinder....Cam gear = Timing.

If air is coming out on each half revolution of the engine then there is a problem with the cam timing. Check the timing gear by taking the covers of the front. If air is coming out only when one piston if moving up then there is a problem with one intake valve. If that is the case then take the head off.

The aluminum one is the better than the fiber ones. It will last a long longer. Several people complain about the noise with the aluminum gear, but I don't hear it in my car.
