Timing gear time

Finally got a look at my timing gear and it's looking pretty gnarly. I see Snyder's offers no less than three replacements. Any recommendations?

I would do it right. Replace the fiber gear with a brass or aluminum gear - and replace the crankshaft gear with new at the same time.

It will likely last the remainder of your ownership of the car.

If you want to "short it" - you can use a fiber chip gear and NOT replace the crank gear - but your mileage may vary. Literally.

X3 as Joe K says. The aluminum gear is great. Some people complain that the aluminum gear is noisy, but I cannot hear it in my engine.

You won't find a nicer set of gears than those that Dan McEachern in Alameda, CA makes. They are works of art. I thought I had a website for him but I can't find it. Email him at dmcgears@yahoo.com, he offers both aluminum and bronze cam gears matched to his steel crank gear.

Aluminum is all you need, it will last a lifetime, and not make noise. Bronze is stronger but more expensive and not needed unless you are racing.
