    Swapping front crossmembers

It's a 1929 roadster pickup I am putting together from loose swap meet parts and eBay finds, there is at least 10+ dead model A cars in this build. I have almost everything I need now other than garage time. Trying to use as much original parts in this build but will be automatic on the back of...

    Swapping front crossmembers

Hi Al 29Tudor Yes I know the top should be countersunk, by drilling the hole to 8mm it removes most of the hole taper. I might grinds some of the crown of the bolts to make them look less obvious. This chassis must have been a Monday or Friday car, the crossmember holes are all over the place...

    Swapping front crossmembers

Managed to fit it today, the 4 holes on the outside of the rail and the 2 front where it attaches to the bottom of the rail lined up perfectly. The 2 top front lined up close. I welded up 4 of the top crossmember holes, opened up all holes in the rail to suit 8mm grade 12 cap head screws. Bolted...

    Swapping front crossmembers

I have just picked up another Model A chassis, it's missing the front crossmember. The new chassis is a later A 30, 31 I think but my good crack free spare crossmember is a early 28 with solid engine mounts. None of the rivet holes line up. Is there a trick to making crossmembers fit into...

    Model A sub rails

Hello, I am building a 29 roadster pickup out of many loose parts from swap meets, eBay and friends. I need the measurements of the subfloor cross rails. Have 3 home made (by a friend) reproduction cross rails, 2 are narrow and one is wide. Only one end is finished, do you know the length these...

Upside down intake, anyone use one for a downdraft

Looks like I have a future project to do, look better than I expected. Just picked up a Zenith duel carb intake. Just need to find a second Stromberg 97 now.

Upside down intake, anyone use one for a downdraft

Hello, have a question. Anyone here use a downdraft carburetor on a upside down intake or modify the factory intake to take a downdraft? Love to see pictures if you have any?

Torqueflite 904 kit to Model A engine fitment?

Nice try carb setup Y Blockhead, might be running a Y block yet on next build for a 30 coupe on 32 rails. The Lokar kit is over $200 + postage and Aussie dollar conversion rate. Would like to use their products as they are well known to work straight out of the box. The $135 cable kit is from a...

Torqueflite 904 kit to Model A engine fitment?

Using a original slant 6 kick down rod or if I have no luck with fitting this will be using a aftermarket cable kit I can get for $135. The carb will be a Holley 94 or my Stromberg 97 so should be easy to adapt.

Torqueflite 904 kit to Model A engine fitment?

It uses the slant 6 auto converter, I think it will work very well in a fenderless lightweight model a roadster pickup. Any hydraulic controlled auto will still move off with only 600 to 800 rpm, stall for most 60s/70s 3 speed automatics is set at 1700/1900 rpm. Stall is measured by applying...

    F100 steering box

F1 steering boxs in RHD are in Australia, but yes rare. I have actually the steering assy from a RHD F1, everything but the steering box. I'am actually having the "swan neck" part of the steering that's mounted to the spindle bent to use in a transverse spring arrangement.

Torqueflite 904 kit to Model A engine fitment?

My choice to would be a C4 especially since I have a reco one siting in my shed. Only commercially available kits, 1/ the slant 6 Torqueflite 904 kit that does away with the Ford A bellhousing (and its rear engine mount) 2/ the Chev kit that can use any Chevy auto, Powerglide T200/350/400/700...

Torqueflite 904 kit to Model A engine fitment?

Hello all I'm will be fitting a Model A engine to auto kit in the next few weeks. Has anyone here used one of these kits? If so do you use the steel plate on the crankshaft that's used when bolting in a flywheel? Did not get any instructions with this kit. Also will need to find a crankshaft...

    Model A Torqueflite 904 kit

The flex plate with this kit is about 4mm thick, looks a lot stronger than any OEM flex I have ever come across. I guess with the big 4s harmonics it needs to be.
