    intake boring

Mike if you don't have time and a little extra money, Snyder's is selling an A intake bored out. It was around $100.00 and is brand new. We've drilled out a number of them following the info from Dave Renner.

2-tooth & end plate with tube don't want to play with each other

I use a "dental Pick" that you can find at swap meets. I have dozens of them they are so useful in the shop. You can use a mirror if you can't bend over to see the little plate washer. I'd send a picture but I'm convalescing from knee replacement and not able to get very close to the steering...

2-tooth & end plate with tube don't want to play with each other

You have to remover the little plate that's in the sector right in the beginning. I think that was what was suppose to stop the leaks but didn't work. I'm surprised the tube doesn't have instructions to remove the thin washer. I've removed one every time I've put the tube in a sector

    oiling the distributor

The reason the upper bushings lasted as long as they did is because they were Clevite bushings and had little pockets of "graphite" throughout the bushings. I don't think any of the bushings being sold today have any graphite in them. I grabbed a batch of distributor bushings when I left...

    Carburetor passage cleaning article?

This is the best article and I have used it for a number of years. Tom Endy is one of the best sources for anything Model A period! He has done an immense help to the Model A world with all the technical information he has written about. The fact is I would never drill out the brass plugs on a...

    Seatbelts

I went through the lower back seat to the floor and put a solid bar on the bottom side for support. If they are fastened to the seat they will pull out the seat in a accident. The S/W is hard to put seat belts in but I feel comfortable with what I did. You need to stay in the car in an...

    Installing cowl lights

Bob Have you drilled the hole for cowl lights on a 30/31 Model A? I've got the tool from both Brattons and Snyders and it's nothing like the old pictures were. I'd like to put Cowl lights on my 31 pickup but am nervous about drilling the hole. I could take the light off our 31 S/W Town sedan...

I've got 42 distributors honed and fitted with the new shafts and when I build them I use only roll pins which are really great.

    Door locks everytime

I've reworked every door on my 31 S/W Town Sedan and I think if you take it apart you will find wear in the locking mechanism. I just had a spring break on the right back door and ordered the new springs from Bert's (I think there for a 32) but they work.

    Steering Column Repair

There was a great article a few years back either MARC or MAFCA on repairing the steering column and there's a exhaust part that you can slip in and drill holes to spot weld and make it like new. I think if you as Ron at MARC he might be able to search it or go to the MARC website and search...
