'31 door latch mechanism repair/replace

When replacing the spring in the remote (triangle), the tabs have to be straightened to get it apart. My experience is they break if you move them cold; have to heat red and straighten. When reassembly, I bend them cold but be careful. If a tab breaks, I’ve tacked it with MIG
 
If I remember correctly, it's just a u shaped piece that goes down over the spring and then the tabs are bent over under neath it? I think you can buy those u shaped pieces?
 
MrBruse you are talking the main latch spring and Bill is talking the remote spring.
