I noticed this hole in the thin wall between the valve chamber area and the timing gear area. From another post I think this is a dam that allows flow into the timing gear area...?? Why is this hole so rough...? Looks like it was knocked thru with a hammer.. [/IMG] [/IMG]

Working on my old Model A block today and got the oil pan removed. Lots of sludge oil... It seems the connecting rod cap nuts is 21/32... Bought a 21/31 12 point socket and it doesn't seem to grab like it should and wants to round off the edges of the nut I tested it on... Looks like I'm gonna...

I have removed the valves from my new to me project Model A engine... The valves are pretty dirty with carbon etc... Was advised to soak them in acetone and then wire wheel them with a steel wire wheel with medium to light bristles... Will this work or damage the valves...? Thanks
