    7-tooth steering full lock

Thank you for the replies. The car has an original pitman arm and is currently on axle stands. I plan to adjust the brakes tomorrow then take it out for a test drive. I'll check to see if the number of steering wheel revolutions to full lock changes when it's on the ground. I checked another...

    7-tooth steering full lock

I rebuilt the 7-tooth steering box for our '29 Tudor; new sector, new worm with steering shaft, etc. After installing it in the car it only took 2 turns of the steering wheel to go form full lock to full lock. At full lock the backing plate (either side) hits the king pin locking bolt on the...

    Patch panels

I'm going to install rear quarter and inner fender patch panels on a '29 Tudor. Each panel has a 1" flange on the bottom that is at a right angle to the panel. When installing the panels should the flanges be bent up inside the subrails or should they be left flat?

    Transmission grinds

I'm double clutching but am new to driving a model A. I thought there was something wrong with the transmission but sounds like it is me. I'll keep practicing. Thanks

    Transmission grinds

Rebuilt the transmission for my '29 Tudor - gears and shift ball good. Except for a slight drag when going from 1st to 2nd it moves nicely through all gears with the engine off. When running there is short grind (less than a second) when shifting - makes no difference which gear. Transmission...

    Gas tank filler neck

I have two 1929 gas tanks; a good one with a bad filler neck and a bad one with a good filler neck. I want to replace the bad neck with the good one. How do I get the necks out? How do I install and seal the good neck?

    Charing problem

Have a 6v positive ground system with a generator/cutout (battery less than a year old, new NuRex cutout). Starting with the battery at full charge, after driving about a mile the charge drops to 65% to 70%. Ran the battery, ground, and cutout tests in Les Andrews' Troubleshooting manual -...

    Louisville swap meet

Does anyone know the date for the January 2011 swap meet at Louisville? It's usually around the second or third Saturday at the National Guard Armory.

    1st gear grinds

I took my '29 chassis out for a test drive. There was some gear grinding in shifting from reverse to 1st and downshifting from 2nd to 1st. The rest of the shifts and downshifts were fine. I rebuilt the transmission with as many original parts as possible. All of the gears looked good. Any...

    Engine won't start

My '29 Tudor engine was recently rebuilt - ran fine on the test stand. I rebuilt the carb, distributor (modern points), starter, etc. It turns over in the car but won't fire. After a short time gas drips out of the carb air intake. I removed the carb, checked the jets, and set the bowl fuel...

    Transmission main drive gear

I'm rebuilding my transmission. The diameter at the end of the main drive gear is 0.662. Getting different opinions on whether or not it should be replaced. Should it?

    Radius bolts

I'm restoring an engine and transmission. When I put the new radius ball socket bolts in the bell housing they are too low to be caught by the radius ball retainer pin. How can I fix this problem?

    Universal joint

I rebuilt a universal joint that I purchased through ebay using a kit from Brattons (cross, bushings, and clips). The rebuilt joint has about 1/8 to 1/4 inch of play across each yoke. Is this normal? When I bolted it to the transmission drive, put on the rear cap, and rotated the joint, I...
