    Fuel tank mount

Silly question, but on a 41, does the tank sit on the frame or "hang" below it. I would hate to sit it on the frame, replace body, then need to remove it for whatever reason. I know, I know, rookie move....I forgot how it came apart. Man, getting old........

    Will not start, please help

Dick, I do. I actually had it running for a few seconds when I had the kill switch wired into the ground. Of course when I opened the switch to stop the starter from spinning I shut down the circuit. That being said do you think the way I now have it wired will work. This is of course...

    Will not start, please help

Terry, OH, Thanks. I have it wired that way you describe with one exception. The starter is wired via a on/off switch. Once the engine starts I open that switch. The coil circuit I have an alligator clip to the neg post running through the resistor to the coil. I clip that on just prior to...

    Will not start, please help

All, thanks for the help. In short, I am using 6V everything. I have the positive lead to ground on the block. The negative lead goes to the starter via an on/off switch. There is another separate negative lead going to the coil via a resistor. My thought is once the engine fires and runs, I...

    Will not start, please help

Today I tried, for the first time, to start my 41 flatty. I do not have the entire electrical system connected, that is to say, nothing is connected. So here is what I have..... First try I had the battery to ground (positive) with a kill switch inline. The negative lead was connected to the...

Ignition set up for test stand

I am getting readt to test start my 41 for the first time. A question I have is is there and do I need a ignition resistor between the battery and the coil. I plan on running a wire from the battery to the coil to provide power to keep the thing running, once it starts! Or can I just run direct...

    Engine install

I just installed my flatty into the frame. Not to difficult as I did it by myself, and had littleissue aligning the mounts with the holes and bolts. My question is, is there a needed way to align the engine on the frame. I know there is little wiggle room and a few fractions of an inch askew...

Cooling system and 35 5 window

First, I am looking for a way of cleaning out the crud built up inside of the cooling passages in the heads of my 41. They have been boiled, soaked, hot tanked etc.. I don't want to clog my new radiator with this stuiff. Any ideas? citric (spelling?) acid? Coca cola? Live with it?? Any help...

    Starters, again

Thanks for the information. I plan on having the thing rebuilt, that should put everything back into place I would think. On the other hand, has anyone had any good or bad luck with the 6V starters from MACS? Or other suppliers?

    Starters, again

Rebuilding a 41 flathead. I am down to the starter. When I took the thing off the car, it "sprang" apart........?/ Is it spring loaded somehow? Do I compress it together before installing it? I think I am going to have it rebuilt before I put it back in, I perfer original parts. Or, are the...
