    Window Regulator Main Spring

Does any one know the trick to installing a new main spring in a Model A window regulator? I swapped a main spring from a broken regulator to a good regulator that was missing the spring. However, I cannot get the preload correct...it's a strong spring and the can't wind it around far enough...

    Radiator?

New radiators are SOP on my restorations where I want the car to be reliable driver. Besides cleaning out blocked tubes, the labor intensive effort required to rod them out, and the shop costs, the biggest problem is the mechanical properties between the tubes and the fins, something that can't...

    Model AA 4-spd Transmission Value

What would be a fair value for a Model AA four speed in excellent condition that includes the bell housing? There's one on ebay w/o the bell housing and they asking over $1700 for it which seem off the chart.

1928 Tudor Driver Side Door Alignment

Marco, Thanks for the reply back, but before I can do all that I first need to know how and when to secure the top of the "A" pillar that is one of the four corners that forms the basic door frame. As I mentioned in my original post, metal that is part of the "A" pillar and the header that...

    Model A CRASH??

I tend to agree with JBohannon, some of us from the "over fifty" clan will remember seeing an auto safety film (yes they were films back then) called Signal 30. This film clearly supports what JBohannon stated. You can can view the film in its entirety on youtube at...

    head gasket

There might be a more modern version, but I've always use the copper gasket with the copper based head gasket sealant on both my As and Ts...never had gasket related issue.

    Sport Coupe question

Oh, top wood on my sports coupe has a natural (clear) finish which goes well with the light tan top material.

    Sport Coupe question

Bob, Prior to installation, I sealed all the new wood components on my Model A and Model T restorations to ensure durability and stabilize the wood. There are several wood sealing options, but I use a coat or two of polyester resin which soaks into the wood pretty good and is hard a nails.

    exhaust manifold and orignality

I concur with Tom. I replaced mine last summer because it was leaking badly and nothing I could do gasket wise would solve the leak. The new once looked identical and worked flawlessly. Once removed, my old one was warped in about three places.

1928 Tudor Driver Side Door Alignment

I have a relatively rust free tudor that I'm restoring, however, the subframe underneath both "A" Pillars was rusted, so I cut out the rusted area and welded in a section of good subframe that came from another Model A tudor...all went well and the patches are flat and true across the length of...

    Engine Knock

Herm, I understand rods bend and twist, but I'm not clear as to how a misaligned rod causes the knock heard in the video. Also, the engine in the video was not a new rebuild. I have no idea on how many miles are on the engine, but it's well used. All I know for sure is it hadn't run in...

Phaeton vs. Touring with the 1928 Ford

Great insight by all, thank you for the wonderful responses. I'm sure marketing had something to do with it, but I bet there was much discussion by Edsel and Henry back in the day on both. I think it worked...most folks (at least today) don't even know there was a 1903 Model A Ford. Brent...

Phaeton vs. Touring with the 1928 Ford

I've been a model T guy for 25 years and served as the President to the Model T Ford Club International, and in all those years the four seat open model T car was always called the Touring by Ford. However, when the second model A (yes, that's another mystery) came out in 1928 they called the...
