    Generator rebuild

I got the insulator in place and now I have trouble getting the field coils to snug up to the frame. The new repro coils are too thick. I am squeezing then flatter in a vise but still can barely get the armature to slide in. Using an impact screwdriver helps tighten up the screws. Will have to...

    Generator rebuild

I just rechecked and if I put it on the bottom of the coils as the Snyder drawing shows, then it would protect the crossover wire between the coils. That would probably work OK. Looks like I will have to be very careful putting the through bolt in place.

    Generator rebuild

The insulator I am interested in is the flat paper with the corners cut off. If I put it under the top of the coils it interferes with the output bolt. If I put it under the bottom of the coils it fits but it doesn't protect the crossover connection. Should there be 2 insulators, one in front...

    Generator rebuild

I am restoring my original generator and trying to figure out where the thin insulators go with my new field coils. This is a fourth generation generator with the spring and wick oiler on the back end. Anybody know?

    Phaeton Roof Clamp Brackets

I bought a reproduction roof frame for my 1929 Phaeton and the clamp brackets that attach it to the windshield posts do not fit right. Ford part number A-37325-B and A-37326-B. They do not have the 10 degree bend in the middle and are about an inch short. Where can I find replacements? Attached...

    Windshield Frame

I am installing a new windshield frame on my 1929 Phaeton and I need to drill the holes for the roof snaps. Does anyone have the layout dimensions for the 6 holes? How many inches from the left corner and then all the way across. I can't install my new roof until I get the snaps installed. Any...

    Striping Tape

I need to add the stripes to the belt rail of my 29 Phaeton. I don't want to paint them, just use tape. All the paint shops have is tape with double stripes, one wide, one narrow. Where can I find cream colored single tape?

600w leaking out of steering box

About 5 years ago my wife commented that my steering was loose and I needed to tighten it up. So I did. And then I replaced my Pittman arm. And then I replaced my drag link, idler balls, front end, and all the other parts I could see. This led to a complete restoration (body off), so look out...

    Brake Light Switch

I should have remembered that there at least 2 switches out there. I have a 29 and I may have fixed it by bending the contact inside. Still seems like a marginal design that will keep bugging me.

    Brake Light Switch

I keep having trouble with my repro brake light switch. It doesn't make good contact inside. Is there a better design out there?

    Top Iron Kit Instructions

Well, a roadster is a little different than a phaeton. The roadster has 3 bows, the phaeton has 4. The roadster has one iron assembly on each side, all connected. The phaeton has the 3 connected plus one standalone bar on each side to the windshield. My kit has a lot of bolts and rivets which I...

    Top Iron Kit Instructions

I bought a top iron kit for my 1929 phaeton and it does not have an instruction sheet for the assembly. Both Brattons and Macs tell me the supplier doesn't have instructions. Does anybody out there still have an assembly instruction for a top iron kit they could email to me?

    Phaeton roof and windshield

Thanks for the reply Mike. I see the 8 images but unfortunately they are of low resolution and I can't read them. Could you send them to me via email in a higher resolution? I haven't yet ordered the roof from Cartouche so I don't know what they will send for instructions. I'll call them next...

    Phaeton roof and windshield

When I bought my 29 Phaeton 60 years ago it had neither roof nor windshield. I found a junk yard windshield that was 2 inches short and used it until I found one of the correct height. The short one was made from round tubing while the longer one was made of oblong tubing. The short one had some...
