    VERY rough running engine!!

Today I found out that the problem was a sticking bowl float. A few gentle taps with a small hammer (use a rag to protect the carburetor.) Thought that you would want to know.

    VERY rough running engine!!

There is a newly rebuilt carburetor on my truck. When driven the engine comes very close to stalling, then running again at the last second. The surging is repeated again and again. When the engine is finally shut off there has been a loud "pop", possibly a backfire through the carburetor. Could...

    Very tight engine

Joe - Thank You for the note. I should have said that before the roadster was sent for painting and assembly the engine could easily be cranked over (with no spark plugs). When it finally got returned to me it is impossible to crank over, spark plugs or none. It is now sitting with a good dose...

    Very tight engine

Today I thought that it would be a good day to start my roadster engine. In the past, it could easily be turned over with a crank. When the roadster was returned to me after 18-months in a leaky wet barn, it was absolutely impossible to crank, even with my 200# on the crank! The engine will turn...

    Roadster vacuum hose hookup

Guys Thank You to everyone who replied. I finally found a solution to the hookup problem. I have used both a pipe as well as a hose. There was a vacuum pipe set up that I had bought for my truck and subsequently misplaced. The answer for me was to use a section of the bent pipe to go through the...

31 deluxe roadster vacuum line route

Steve - Were there any special fittings, etc. involved at the firewall connection on the passenger side? The reason that I am asking is that with my roadster about 90% done, it is impossible for me to get at the gas tank bolts, etc. Thank You in Advance Joel R...

    Roadster vacuum hose hookup

People: Can anyone help me with some photos of how the vacuum hose goes from underneath the dash to the wiper? Is there a hole in the stanchion for any of the mounting? Does the hose just stay outside of the body where the hose goes to the piping?? Any help would be very much appreciated in this...

    Model a diamond block number

I just re-checked the Diamond block marking. It is indeed a "1" without the tiny top & bottom (horizontal) line. Evidently this may have had an agricultural origin. It still should be a better block, as I am told that a higher grade of steel was used in these castings. A Thank You to all that...
