What are the steps to priming a new fuel pump on a 51 EAB engine?

Went thru all the steps D.Rolston suggested and no luck getting fuel to the Carb. Any more input would be welcome.

What is the best engine oil for a stock 51 EAB flathead and why?

well...No luck. Is the cap on the the pump arm supposed to be crimped solid to the arm? the one I have came very loosely fit on the arm and wants to turn at the slightest bump.

change focus....What is the best way to in stall a new Fuel pump in the EAB stock Flathead? Seems like one needs to have a couple more hands to hold it the correct place, feed the bolts in and keep the pump in the proper alignment so the pump rod stays in place with out it coming off of the new...

No way to tell but I think a cheep replacement fits the case. The top tip appears.to have a brass tip that shows wear. The he bottom (steel ) is worn a little concave. I will guess that last owner made it ??????

After some PB blaster, twisting and pulling with a vise grip it came out. The bottom end was/is mushroomed. I forgot to tell you that the push rod is in an EAB engine. A new EAB-9400-A is on its way from Van Pelt. The Push rod is 10.064 in long. THANKS FOR ALL THE INPUT.

the rod lifts up and down and twists freely by hand. It will not come out. ????

I can pull it up about a 3/4 inch and it sounds like it is hitting metal on metal. Should I force it up and out?

Can the fuel pump push rod on a 51 flat head be replaced with out taking the in take off? (stock engine) If so... How? It pulls up about 1/2 inch a seems to catch on ??? Something.

I am using straight non Detergent 30 weight now. Is there a better choice for oil now days?

Out of all the "stop leak" products is there one that works better than others in your opinion? The leaks leave a +/- 12 inch drip area over time.

Have a 40 Ford with a 52 stock flathead. It has an oil leak on both ends of the engine. Is there a good "stop leak" product for such a problem? I do not want to tear the engine out. Any one have a "magic" trick, that works?
